No Rest For Mathis Brothers: Company Plans Two Tulsa Sleep Centers

That would give the Oklahoma City-based retailer three Sleep Centers in the states second-largest metropolitan area. The original shop opened two years ago in a 6,490-square-foot former Blockbuster in Broken Arrow.
Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission records indicate a new store will go up as part of The Walk at Tulsa Hills shopping center. That anticipated retail complex will occupy the southwest corner of 81st Street and U.S. Highway 75, just south of the popular Tulsa Hills Shopping Center.
The other Mathis Sleep Center will be built just north of Tulsas busy 71st Street retail corridor, at the southeast corner of S. 101st East Ave. and E. 68th Street South. Tulsas existing Mathis Brothers store operates just north of the planned mattress store.
Both of these stores will sit on 1.8 acres, with 11,972 square feet under roof, according to planning commission filings. That panel approved detailed site plans for both projects last week, staff planner Jay Hoyt said.
The steel buildings will follow a prototype already in use at four Oklahoma City-area locations, said architect Ron Costigan of Moores Costigan and Associates. A wide-open showroom dominates the footprint, with a small workroom at the back.
Mathis Brothers also is raising a 325,000-square-foot warehouse in Oklahoma City, just two minutes from its flagship store.
