Sleep And Lung Clinic Of Utah

The Sleep Center Process

Meet Dr. Ronald Green, MD, a pulmonary & sleep medicine specialist with The Everett Clinic.

A primary-care physician generally refers you to the Tanner Clinic Sleep Disorders Center for a comprehensive test and treatment recommendations.

Our sleep study coordinator will verify insurance benefits, pre-authorize the study if required, and obtain any additional information that will help ensure the patient receives the correct testing.

The patient generally stays for two nights at the center, with the first night focused completely on testing. Using electrode attachments, patients are tested for brain waves, breathing habits and heart patterns. Also measured is the pressure of their breathing through a mask.

If your test indicates you have sleep apnea and you require a CPAP machine, your doctor will order you a unit from a local medical equipment company that accepts your insurance.

Keep in mind that it can take several adjustments before the setup is right for you. Other options can be recommended if CPAP does not correct your apnea. Sometimes additional testing is required for testing of BIPAP or VPAP .

Tanner Clinic Sleep Disorders Center also conducts Multiple Sleep Latency testing for the diagnosis of narcolepsy .

Special arrangements can be made for patients who need to do their testing during the daytime due to shift work.
