Naproxen can raise your risk of having blood clots, heart attacks, or strokes. People with heart problems, those taking high doses of naproxen , and those taking naproxen for a long time have a higher risk of this happening. Try to take the lowest possible dose of this medication for the shortest possible time. If you have heart problems, talk to your healthcare provider before starting this medication. Do not take naproxen if you have had or will be having heart bypass surgery. Call 911 or seek immediate medical help if you experience chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness on one side of your body, or trouble speaking or walking.
What Drugs And Food Should I Avoid While Taking Aleve Pm
Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you. Your reactions could be impaired.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using other medicines for pain, fever, swelling, or cold/flu symptoms. They may also contain diphenhydramine or naproxen. Also avoid using diphenhydramine anti-itch medicine on your skin.
Avoid taking aspirin unless your doctor tells you to.
Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of stomach bleeding.

Q. Can Aleve sometimes cause drowsiness? I only take one but later I find myself dozing off. Is there a hidden ingredient that causes this? Am I the only one who experiences this problem?
A. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as OTC ibuprofen and naproxen or prescription products like diclofenac , indomethacin and meloxicam can sometimes cause drowsiness, dizziness or confusion. This is not considered a common reaction, but it is not unknown.

What Should I Know About Storage And Disposal Of This Medication
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture .

Adult dosage
Naproxen:
Immediate-release oral tablet
- The typical dosage is 500 to 1,000 mg daily in two divided doses.
- The maximum dose is 1,500 mg per day. This should be given for a limited time period .
Delayed-release oral tablet
- The typical dosage 375 to 500 mg twice daily.
- The maximum dose is 1,500 mg per day. This should be given for a limited time period .
Naproxen sodium:
Immediate-release oral tablet
- The typical dosage is 275 to 550 mg twice daily.
- The maximum dose is 1,650 mg per day. This should be given for a limited time period .
Extended-release oral tablet
- The typical dosage is 750 or 1,000 mg once daily.
- The maximum dose is 1,500 mg per day. This should be given for a limited time period.
Child dosage
A dosage for people younger than 18 years hasnt been established.
Special dosage considerations

Long Term Side Effects
Naproxen can cause an ulcer in your stomach or gut if you take it for a long time.
Your doctor may tell you not to take naproxen if you have a stomach ulcer or you have had one in the past. If you need to take naproxen but are at risk of getting a stomach ulcer, your doctor may prescribe another medicine for you to take alongside naproxen to protect your stomach.
The most common symptom of a stomach ulcer is a burning or gnawing pain in the centre of the stomach. But stomach ulcers are not always painful and some people may have other symptoms, such as indigestion, heartburn and feeling sick.
