How Good Are Sleep Number Beds

Is A Sleep Number Mattress Worth The Price

Sleep Number Bed Reviews – Which Bed Is Best For You??

Sleep Number mattresses are pricier than many nonadjustable mattresses. Youll pay about $899 to $4,299 for a queen-size mattress.

Still, many reviewers seem to feel that theyre worth the price. Happy customers report that they love being able to adjust the feel of the mattress just to their liking.

Sleep Number 360 M7 Smart Bed

  • Price: $$$
  • Type: memory foam and adjustable air
  • Height: 11 inches

The m7 Smart Bed blends cooling memory foam with a 5-inch comfort layer and smart adjustability. This may be a good, albeit more expensive, option if you like the hug of traditional memory foam, and youd also like to customize firmness.

Close to 3,500 reviews give this mattress a 4.7 rating out of 5 stars, and the vast majority are 5 stars. Still, negative reviewers mention uneven support and difficulty sleeping.

Sleep Number mattresses are available for purchase at any of the Sleep Number stores in the United States. You can also buy them on the companys website.

These mattresses cant be purchased at third-party mattress or furniture stores.

Height, comfort layer thickness, and cooling features are the biggest differences among the Sleep Number models. When choosing a mattress, think about how plush you like your mattress and if youre looking for upgrades.

Sleep Number offers a sleep quiz to help you narrow your options. Nine questions cover the following:

  • who is using the mattress
  • your preferred mattress size
  • if you experience common sleep issues, like cold feet, trouble falling asleep, and snoring
  • if you read or watch television in bed

Based on your answers, the company offers several mattress recommendations that might suit your needs.

If you decide to shop on the company website, Sleep Number offers a 100-night trial so you can try your mattress at home.

Making Sense Of Sleep Number

Sleep Number offers two lines of mattresses: the Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed line and the Sleep Number Value Bed line.

The Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed line consists of four series, most of which include several models:

From a design standpoint, Sleep Number 360 Smart Beds and Value Beds are similar to any other mattresses: Each contains an upper comfort portion made of foam layers and a lower support portion. Instead of the foam or springs found in the lower support portion of conventional mattresses, in Sleep Number mattresses, that support portion consists of an adjustable air chamber and a support pad. These air chambers make it possible for couples to independently adjust firmness levels to their own liking. Theres also a sleep tracker inside the bed.

Heres how the key components work:

The air chamber allows you to adjust the firmness level of the mattressyour sleep settingsby filling the chamber with more or less air. The settings range from 5 to 100 you can adjust them in increments of 5 using the SleepIQ app on your phone or tablet, or with a remote . With the 360 Smart Beds, the tissue-boxsized pump is incorporated into a base , which pairs with the mattress. If you dont purchase the base, the pump will sit on the floor.

Is Sleep Number The Best Mattress

Sleep Number is one of the most well known mattress brands and has good scores from customers on initial comfort with its number firmness technology. However, there are some complaints about durability on the electronics, pumps, and air technology, which cause customers concern about value over time.

The Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed Performance Series

Sleep Number Beds

The Performance Series is slightly plusher than the Classic Series. The p5 and cooling pSE each have 4 inches of cushioning, for a total height of 10 inches. The p6, the companys most popular mattress, has an additional inch of cushioning, for an overall thickness of 11 inches.

Compared with the beds in the Classic line and the Performance lines p5, the p6 felt like a real mattress, the kind with a surface thats adequately cushioned for people who are not particularly high-maintenance. But when I tried the p6 at home, I couldnt shake the feeling that I was sleeping on a rubber raft. The 5 inches of foam wasnt enough for me to nestle into, even with a softer air-bladder setting. Letting out air offered more give, but then the bed didnt feel as supportive, and it still didnt feel fluffy, per se.

I was left feeling adrift, but my husband, by contrast, loved sleeping on the p6. For once, instead of compromising on my medium-soft-mattress preferences, he could sleep on a firm mattress next to me. It was a sad day for him when we returned this mattress.

The pSE wasnt available to try at the store when I visited, but Sleep Numbers publicist said it has proprietary ClimaTemp foam that is softer and more plush than whats typically used on the p series. Unfortunately, were not sure exactly how this technology works because Sleep Number doesnt share details about its foam.

Level & Flat Sleep Surface

About 20% of Sleep Number bed owners report a problem with the middle of the bed where the two air chambers meet.

Some owners say there is a “valley” or “trench” in the middle, while others report a “hump.” There also can be a problem with one or both sides of the bed sloping toward the middle which can cause a sleeper to roll or slide in that direction.

The middle area may be uncomfortable to lie on, and it can be less than friendly for intimate activities, including cuddling, spooning and sex.

Sleep Number customer service may have solutions to problems with the middle, such as a “lift” which is a piece of foam that is placed under the air chambers to raise the middle.

Problems with the middle of the bed tend to be reported mainly by owners who use very different firmness settings for each side of the bed, such as 90-20. It may also be a problem when both sides use a very low or very high firmness setting.

Is Snoring A Potential Symptom

Sleep Number Bed – Personal Review after 2 years of use

Do all snorers have sleep apnea? In short, no. Not all folks who snore suffer from this condition, but those that do almost always snore.

Research indicates that roughly half of snorers have a more serious condition that may require medical intervention. If your snoring is loud enough to disturb your partners sleep, it may be indicative of a much larger problem, and you might want to speak with a healthcare provider to receive a more definitive diagnosis.

The Following Is An Overview Of The Mattresses

among Sleep Numbers Classic Series 360 Smart Beds

The Classic Series mattresses from Sleep Number certainly feel like entry-level mattresses despite their low price . A dormitory bed, I think, would be 8 inches thick and 2 inches of foam. In the bladder is a bladder full of air, which provides the mattress with the rest of its loft. In fact, there is an inch of extra foam, which makes the mattress not feel as cuddly. This series is not recommended for people who arent used to sleeping on mats or who dont plan to buy a mattress topper.

Sleep Number will introduce temperature-balancing features in 2020, like breathable fabric and gel materials that will keep mattresses cooler and more breathable.

Bed Smarts Performance Series Sleep Number 360

Classic Series and Performance Series differ in a few ways. Cooling pSEs, which are 12 inches tall and 4 inches thick, achieve a height of 10 inches. Its most popular mattress, an 11-inch mattress, is given an extra layer of cushioning.

The P6 worked for my partner as well. It was the first time he could accept my preference for medium soft mattresses without compromising . He was very sad when he had to return this mattress. When I visited Sleep Number, I didnt see PSE , but a Sleep Number spokesperson claimed the foam bed mattress was softer and plusher than P series mattresses. Sleep Number doesnt share any details about how its foam works, so we do not know exactly how it works.

Selecting A Bed And Preparing For Delivery

If you’re seriously considering getting a 360 Smart Bed, I strongly suggest speaking with one of the company’s Sleep Professionals, who can assess your needs, give you a rundown of the different models and features, and help you pick the best model for you.

Sleep Number’s beds are expensive, but the company often runs promotions, so wait for a deal if you can. At the time of this writing, it’s offering $800 off 360 Smart Beds as part of a fall sale. The company also occasionally waives its $199 premium delivery and setup fee, which is otherwise required with the purchase of any 360 Smart Bed.

To make the cost more manageable, Sleep Number offers financing options through Synchrony Financial starting at $45 per month. For peace of mind, the company also offers a 100-night trial and a 15-year limited warranty.

Before receiving my review unit, I was a little nervous about whether it would work with my current bed frame, and I’m happy to report that it does. The FlexFit base needs to sit directly on the floor, but in many cases, can be dropped into your existing bed frame, as is the case with my setup. Sleep Number says it won’t work with platform furniture and frames with under-bed storage.

Sleep Number Beds: Your Best Choices Explained

If you have ever been mattress and bed shopping within the last few decades, you most likely have heard about the Sleep Number Bed systems. With constantly evolving comfort choices, these beds are considered some of the most technologically advanced in the current sleep industry.

Not only are they some of the only smart beds available, they are capable of providing you a wholly unique, completely adjustable sleep experience. Plus they have dual comfort capabilities in all models. The best Sleep Number Bed is going to be specific to your own personalized needs, but are most definitely worth taking a closer look at.

Keeps Your Feet Warm And Your Body Cool

Sleep Number Introduces Advanced DualAir Technology in ...

If you’re always cold, you’re probably going to want the FlexFit 3 for its signature foot-warming feature, which isn’t available on the company’s other adjustable bases. As its name suggests, this feature warms just the foot end of the bed. It takes around 15 to 30 minutes to heat up. “Research has shown that having your feet gently warmed may help you fall asleep faster,” Sleep Number says.

With a dual-chamber mattress, you can individually control this feature on each side, so one person can have the foot warmer turned on and the other can have it turned off.

In testing, this feature has worked wonderfully. I have it set to High, and it gets toasty but not too hot. My one gripe is that you can only enable this feature as part of a Routine in the SleepIQ app. And since it’s only available in the Routines section of the Bed tab, it’s a bit hard to find.

To enable it, navigate to Bed > View Routines > Create a New Schedule. From there, you can select certain days of the week, set your bedtime, and set the foot warming temperature . After creating your Routine, the foot warmer will turn on 30 minutes before your bedtime, so it’s ready when you hop in. As you fall asleep, it will automatically cool down.

If you want to turn it on outside of your normal bedtime, you have to create a new Routine, which is sort of a hassle. I wish there was a button in the app to let you turn it on and off whenever you want.

Can A Herniated Disc Cause This Condition

There are two different kinds of sleep apnea, obstructive and central. The most common is the former, which is typically caused by muscles in the throat relaxing and blocking airways. The less common central sleep apnea is caused by nerve damage where the brain is not communicating properly with the muscles that manage breathing processes when youre asleep.

This nerve damage can have several different causes, and herniated discs are only one of them. Treatment of this condition or proper management of its symptoms can reduce the likelihood that you develop sleep apnea.

Major Pros Of Sleep Number Beds

1. Adjustable Firmness

With a memory foam, inner spring or latex mattress, its firmness stays fixed. Such a mattress does NOT let you increase or decrease the firmness of the bed your only option is to ditch your current mattress and buy yourself a new mattress.

But with Sleep Number air beds, you can fine-tune the firmness of your mattress by inflating it or deflating it, within a certain range.

2. Responsive Air Technology

When you twist and turn in your sleep, the Classic, Performance and Innovation series Sleep Number beds can automagically adjust firmness according to your movements. Built-in pressure sensors on air chambers detect your body movements and make adjustments accordingly. That is as advanced as sleeping technology can get in 2019! These models are known as the Sleep Number 360® series smart beds.

3. Dual Air Technology

Each partner can choose his or her preferred firmness independent of the other . So for example, the wife can have a firmer setting and the husband can have a softer setting on the same mattress!!

In other words, two people sleeping on the same bed can have very different firmness settings. The only way to do this with a conventional mattress is if you owned a split-king bed like this one.

4. One-Touch Sleep Number Recall

5. SleepIQ Technology
