Rick was truly amazing! I always go into Mathis Brothers stores with the intent of avoiding sales people at all costs due to their nagging and intrusive nature. However, and this is a big however.Rick is a huge exception to the typical sales person. He was respectful of our budget, respectful of our space all while getting us a fantastic mattress AND the 365 mattress guarantee! Because of Rick and this wonderful shopping experience, O will return to Mathis Sleep Center! Thanks Rick!

Mathis Brothers To Build Mattress Stores In Norman Edmond
Mathis Brothers plans to bring its Sleep Studio concept to Edmond and Norman with new stores specializing in mattresses.
The furniture giant in December purchased a former Golden Corral in Edmond at 401 Comfort Drive and a piece of land in February in Normans University North Park shopping center, 1200 24th Ave. NW, for the projects. The properties cost $850,000 and $1.1 million, respectively, according to county records.
Rit Mathis, son of Bill Mathis, said the current Sleep Studio at Reno and Portland Avenues has been popular with customers, who like its quieter environment away from the hustle and bustle of the mega furniture store at 3434 W Reno.
Its been really successful, so we decided to do more of these free-standing bedding shops, he said.
Both projects are in the very early stages and there is no timeline for completion, he said. In Norman, an architectural firm has been hired to begin designing the store. In Edmond, the old Golden Corral was torn down but the company hasnt moved beyond that.
Mathis said his father was anxious to secure the Edmond property because the street name Comfort Drive was appealing. But the Norman store likely will open first.
The current Sleep Studio is 7,800 square feet. About two-thirds of the bedding sold is made in Oklahoma City at the Mathis Brothers-owned Lady Americana factory. It has enough floor space to showcase the entire line of Tempur-Pedic products.

About five weeks ago, I went to the store to buy a coffee table, end table, and entertainment unit that matched. Because all of the items were not on the floor and available, I had to order them. What I found out todaybecause it was a special order, all sales are final no matter what. Even if they do not match in color tone, I have to take delivery. Also, if I had taken the end table and coffee table from the floor stock and wanted to return them because the entertainment unit was not available, there is a 10% restocking fee that is not told up front. Be very wary of the policy to order the furniture instead of waiting for it to be on the floor and available for inspection. Go to the the customer service area to look at the return policy before looking at any product in the store.

Been trying to have service manager Katie to return my call. She keeps telling she will get back later in the evening.No call, then call i back Shes on another line will call back in the morning still no call.This has been going on each for a week, and now i, m told she wont be back till Monday. Two days from now. Today is Friday 9-23-16. Mathis Brothers on Reno in Okla.City Has one sorry service manager . God forbid the person who has Katie help. Next time i will go back to Bob Mills where the service is top notch.

Retail Triple Play: Mathis Brothers Taking A Sleep Center La
Mathis Brothers is headed to Shawnee with three of its retail concepts in one place: Mathis Sleep Center, Ashley Furniture and a La-Z-Boy store, all in the former J.C. Penney at Shawnee Mall.
The stores should open in spring or early summer next year, Mathis Brothers spokesman Kerry Tramel said Friday. The property fronts Interstate 40 at the northeast corner of I-40 and Kickapoo Road.
“It’s new life” for the mall, which lost J.C. Penney, an anchor, last summer, said CBRE retail property broker Mark Inman, who handled the sale of the 50,973-square-foot building this week.
The Shawnee J.C. Penney was one of six in Oklahoma and 242 across the country that closed last summer as the long-troubled department store chain, hammered further by the coronavirus and economic shutdown, sought stability under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. J.C. Penney had been at Shawnee Mall since it was built in the 1980s. JCP Realty Inc., Penney’s property development division, was a co-developer of the mall as a limited partner with The Herring Group of Dallas.
Mathis Bros. Oklahoma City LLC paid OOTB Shawnee LLC of Miami, Florida, $2,391,250 for the building and 4.35 acres, county records show. The property abuts Shawnee Mall but is a separate parcel with different ownership, a typical anchor setup for malls and shopping centers.

Mathis Brothers Plans Sprawling Oklahoma City Distribution Center
Mathis Brothers Furniture plans to build a new $16-million, 365,000-square-foot distribution center near its store along Interstate 40 to keep pace with the growth of several brands it operates in the Oklahoma City metro area.
We’ve kind of outgrown this property and this expansion will help us grow and also better serve our customers, Bill Mathis said of Mathis Brothers’ 410,000-square-foot store and distribution center at 3434 W Reno.
Mathis hopes the new distribution center will free up more parking for customers at the store, and also could pave the way for the eventual reuse of the existing distribution area for an expansion of Mathis Brothers’ already expansive showroom.
The new distribution center will serve the needs of the local Factory Direct Furniture and Drexel Heritage stores, also operated by Mathis Brothers.
The distribution center demonstrates the commitment we have made to Oklahoma City and doing business here, Mathis said.
The new facility will be built on the site of the former Big Red Furniture Warehouse store at 413 S Portland.
The distribution center will position the company for growth of the Mathis Brothers Sleep Studio stores in the metro area, as well as Ashley Furniture HomeStores.
Mathis Brothers is a franchisee for Wisconsin-based Ashley Furniture. The Oklahoma City-based company hopes to eventually have seven 30,000-square-foot to 40,000-square-foot Ashley Furniture stores in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City metro areas.
