Do I Have To Pay Anything
The Sleep Number air mattress warranty is prorated. Only during the first year does Sleep Number cover the complete cost to repair or replace your mattress. After this, youre responsible for some of the cost.
So, how much are you responsible for after year one? There are separate costs for things like parts, shipping, inspection, and installation. For parts or products, the percentage youre responsible for slowly increases with time.
Heres a summary of what youll need to pay for the parts or products if your warranty claim is approved:
- Day 1day before 1st anniversary: No cost to you.
- 1st anniversaryday before 11th anniversary: You pay 30% plus 5% for each full year of ownership.
- 11th anniversary to 15th anniversary: You pay 85%.
When it comes to the cost of shipping, installation, and inspection, Sleep Number covers this at 100% during the first year. After that, youre responsible for the entire cost of shipping parts or products, mattress inspection, and installation.

Modular & Adjustable Bases
Not included in the price of your Sleep Number mattress but available for purchase are modular bases and a series of adjustable bases.
While you dont have to use Sleep Numbers modular base for your mattress, it does replace a traditional box spring and is available for $299 for a Queen.

Firmness Control System Out Of Sync
Each side of the Sleep Number mattress will come with a pump and an electric control that monitors the firmness level and makes sure that the mattress remains within the desired settings. This is known as the Firmness Control System.
First, check to make sure that you have the firmness level set where you want it. If the Firmness Control System got unplugged or otherwise reset for any reason, it may be inflating the mattress to a lower level that makes it seem like there is a leak.
If the pump appears to be set correctly, you may want to re-sync the system to see if a glitch was causing the pump to operate erratically. This can be done through the following steps:
If Applicable: Place Corner Lock System In Place
Some bed sizes, like the double bed, have a corner locking system instead of the notched side walls. These are placed on the bottom of the mattress cover in each corner. Trial Period And Returns
Sleep Number gives you 100 nights to test drive their beds. There are a lot of moving parts built into a Sleep Number bed. We would recommend you take 30 nights of sleeping before deciding whether to keep any mattress. We would recommend taking at least that amount of time for the Sleep Number. You may need some time to figure out which number/firmness at which you sleep most comfortably.
If you decide the mattress, or any of the individual layers, doesnt work for you, just initiate a return within 100 days. Sleep Number has to authorize it before you can expect a return. Once you initiate a return, you have 30 days to get it back to Sleep Number. You will pay to return your mattress. After all of that, and after your returns have arrived at Sleep Number, youll have to wait 21 days for your refund.
But you can exchange your mattress for an upgrade or downgrade. Youll have to pay the difference for the upgrade. Youll get a refund of some portion of the difference if you choose a lower-priced model.
