Sleep In Heavenly Peace Gives Kids The Dignity Security Of A Bed To Sleep In
GREEN BAY, Wis. – When you think about basic needs, you probably think about a place to live, food and clothing. But what about a bed?
An organization was recently started in our area to address the growing number of children who dont have a bed to sleep in. Sleep in Heavenly Peace started in Idaho in 2012 and in less than a decade has grown with 245 chapters across the country. A new chapter just started in De Pere a few months ago.
What they do is build beds for kids who need them. Bedlessness, its not really a word but its a problem. Two to three percent of kids in the United States are sleeping in a situation where theyre not in their own bed. Theyre in bed with a parent or a sibling, on a couch or the floor, whatever it might be, but they dont have a bed, Dan Vermeulen, co-president of the De Pere chapter, said.
In one recent build, 30 volunteers were able to build about 20 beds in four hours. Already, half of those beds will be going to kids who dont have a bed to sleep in. Each bed comes with a new mattress, bedding and a pillow.
We just need to get them in their own bed. It gives them so much self-esteem. They can get a good nights sleep. Theyre going to perform better in school. Theres so many positives with it, Vermeulen said.
Right now the local chapter is focused on serving De Pere and the west side of Green Bay so they dont get overwhelmed with a long waiting list.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace plans to do its next big build in April.

Loved The Sleep Number Beds
We chose to stay at the Radisson to try out the sleep number beds because we are thinking of purchasing one. We stayed in a deluxe room which was very modern. The bathroom had a walkin shower, no tub. The furnishings were very modern: TV cabinet, desk, desk chair, nightstands. A few housekeeping issues though: there was an empty roll of toilet paper left on the roll, hair from the previous guest on the sink, and when I called to schedule turndown service in the evening, the girl who answered the phone had no clue what I was talking about.We also had a problem with the sleep number bed not properly inflating. Maintenance was called and was able to fix it, however no body from housekeeping wanted to come and remake the bed, so the maintenance guy had to do it.Included with our stay was a breakfast buffet. It was not a continental breakfast, it was actually 3 different areas of food. Excellent value. Unfortunately did not have time to use the pool facilities, but it looked really nice.More

They Have A Sleep Number Bed
Nothing bad, nothing great. Seems to be an older, but clean and in decent shape hotel. Not much different than other casino/hotels that you’d find in Reno, Atlantic City or old Vegas. A good nights stay for an early flight out of GB. Didn’t utilize any restaurants, so no opinion there. More

We Loved The Sleep Number Bed
We really enjoyed our stay here at the Radisson. It was a really nice hotel and it was connected to the casino. The gym was pretty nice and had all new equipment so I made good use of it. Flights in and out of GRB are limited and I often stay at the Radisson. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else even though I have points at other properties. The staff at the Radisson always take good care of me and the rooms are comfortable.
