Sleep Number Mattresses: Layers Explained

Just above the airbed, there is a pillow-top comfort layer. There are four inches of PlushFit foam on the air chambers with five zones on the body to promote pressure relief.

The four-inch memory foam is just right when compared to other Sleep Number bed models. The c4 and c2 have a bit less, but all the other models have more memory foam in the construction. If you want a medium-firm feel, then the P5 Sleep Number bed is just the right one for you. Being at the lower end of the memory foam spectrum means that not all sleep position styles can be suitable for the mattress. Back sleepers and stomach sleepers will find the proper support, while side sleepers may feel that they need a bit more give of the mattress for the sake of their spinal alignment.

The company says the bed will have sensors to measure sleep-tracking data like your heart, heart-rate variability, and breathing rate. Among other features, the mattress will automatically adjust firmness in response to your movements, and warm or cool the bed based on your body temperature. Sleep Number also now offers a kids bed.

How Is Motion Transfer And Sinkage

The Sleep Number bed P5, like many other air beds, absorbs motion but is not a major strength of Sleep Number beds.

The movement made by one partner on one side of the bed will not disrupt the other side of the bed nor interfere with your partners sleeping.

However, our data did reveal that about 5% of Sleep Number bed owners said their beds had poor motion isolation and poor motion transfer issues.

Going with the C2 and adding my own bells and whistles

Very grateful for Candid Reviewer’s advice. We were interested in the C2 after seeing the excellent rating it received from Consumer Reports, with high marks for durability, side and back sleeping. We went to the sleep number store, stuck to our plan and avoided being up- sold, and bought both the recommended fiber topper and a gel topper to experiment with once the C2 arrives. We also are using our old metal frame with a queen-size bunkie board , for a nice savings compared to the $300 foundation from sleep number. More $ for new sheets and bedding!

Not perfect but best mattress I’ve had in….well ever.

I will not buy any other bed again.

Best bed I ever had. I’m a big person 300 Plus pounds…At year 10 the pump went out and I called…they still had my info and sold me a new pump at 1/2 price. It’s went through 2 moves and is still great! My husband is also big so it stands up to heavy folks. Folks on the phone were friendly and helpful. I’m looking now to buy my son one.

The less expensive Classic Series mattresses and the Value Bed lines are just too thin for most people. If you like a plush mattress with good support, then you should spend more for the Innovation Series beds, which have thicker cushioning.

Despite the first day of fall technically being back on September 22nd, now that the first day of October has passed, I think that were all finally welcoming the season.

Sixty-five degrees its not too hot, not too cold. How many of you get too warm or too chilly while youre sleeping? Im a blanket girl. Regardless of the weather or room temperature, I have to have a blanket on. Of course, this often leaves me hot during the night. Alas, taking everything into account, weve been unable to settle our hot and cold while sleeping differences until now.

What Is The Best Way To Care For The Sleep Number P5 Mattress

Due to its specific comfort layer, the Sleep Number P5 is a no-flip mattress, but it comes with a 25-year limited warranty that guarantees full use and value.

Rotating and flipping the comfort layer and the foam components of the P5 multiple times per year is typically required to prevent it from sagging and maintain and maximize its long life span.

As for typical cleaning of the mattress, using cool sparkling water and a mild soft detergent is required, and gentle rubbing and circular motions.

Do not machine wash or dry clean the cover since this will cause shrinking and damage.

What I think he means is that the I-LE is a great combination of all the features these two Innovation Series mattresses has to offer. It is also priced right in between the two models as well.

What You Need To Know About The Dualtemp Layer

The units that control the DualTemp layer actually come as two individual plug-in units so you need two plugs for them. We have a surge-protected power strip already in our bedroom so just be prepared for that. The units make about as much noise as a box fan. The white noise doesnt bother me at all. It actually helps my husband sleep when hes working night shift as it helps muffle the noise of five, active, homeschooling children. Some people may not like the noise from the fans, but if outside noises bother you during the night, you may find the white noise a benefit, not a downfall.

We had a friend mention that she thought the fans made her bedroom too warm at night. We dont have central air in our old house so we keep the bedroom temperature cool with a window unit we dont heat or cool the entire house at a time. That may be why weve not had any trouble with heat generation. Still its something to be aware of you are plugging in two units, so theres the electricity/potential heat for each.

I was sent a DualTemp Layer by Sleep Number to review and have tested it now for about a month. My opinions are my own and you cannot have my warm side of the bed!
