Sleep Number I8 Vs P6

Can A Heavy Person Use A Sleep Number Bed

Sleep Number i8 360 Bed vs Personal Comfort A8 Number Bed

With a weight limit of 400 pounds per air chamber, a Sleep Number bed can comfortably accommodate people 230 pounds and above. According to a study conducted on users of Sleep Number beds, people with heavier weight tend to find models i8, i9 and i10 to satisfy their needs. In terms of comfort, the preferred firmness for people in the heavier weight range is right around Sleep Numbers 70-80. Your firmness preference might also change if you have recently gained around ten pounds or more. To make your mattress more comfortable, try adjusting your Sleep Number settings to increments of five points until you can achieve your preferred firmness.

Which Sleep Number Bed Is Best

Now to the real meat of it! Here is a breakdown of every Sleep Number bed so you can figure out what is best for you.

For Firm Loves, Without Bells and Whistles

The C Classic series mattresses will be the most affordable option, but also the most limiting. These beds will be on the firmest end of the spectrum and come with the least amount of bells and whistles. Still, this could be a great option if youre on a budget but still want the ability to adjust the level of air pressure in your mattress with the click of a button.

The Sleep Number c2 Bed:

The c2 bed does not come with a foam mattress pad on top of the air chamber. Instead, it has a soft fiberfill sewn into a thin layer right above the air chambers. This is a great option for people who love firm beds especially side sleepers. Many reviewers said the bed did a great job at helping alleviate back pain by providing ample and firm support. Others spoke to the beds longevity and a few were happy with the price point being more manageable than comparable beds.

Lastly, the c2 includes a 15-Year Limited Warranty, which means any damage to the bed due to a manufacturing or material issue will be covered by Sleep Number for the first two years. After that, a percentage of the cost will be replaced or refunded up to 15 years based on the type of damage reported.

What Devices Or Apps Can A Sleep Number Bed Connect With

The Sleep Number Cooling Memory Foam

The m7 is the only Sleep Number bed that offers the hugging sensation of memory foam. If you and your sleep partner prefer a light memory-foam cradling, and if you cant agree on a firmness level, then the m7 may be a worthwhile, albeit expensive, option. However, the company doesnt divulge what, exactly, is in that foamy comfort portion, so we dont know how dense, and therefore durable, it is. The sinky-ness of the m7 is comparable to that of most online foam mattresses . It has a slight sinking sensation, but not the more-assertive curve-conforming feel of something like the Tempur-Adapt.

Best Sleep Number Settings

Sleep Number P6 Mattress Reviews

Because of its adjustable settings, you can get a restful sleep, depending on your needs and how you prefer to sleep. For example, if youre a stomach sleeper, you will need a medium to firmness ratio that will prevent you from placing pressure on your ribs and stomach while also maintaining proper alignment along your spine.

  • Stomach sleepers For stomach sleepers, the most recommended range is at around 50, while sleepers usually adjust it around this number.
  • Back sleepers Back sleepers, on the other hand, find it most comfortable when the bed supports the arch of their backs. Models i7 and i8 in the Innovation series usually provide this kind of comfort due to the five-to-six-inch comfort foam layer placed on top of the air chamber. Combined with a setting of 50, the bed offers a medium firmness.

My Top Sleep Number Bed Recommendation

Of all the smart beds that the Sleep Number series has to offer, my favorite is by far the i10. It takes advantage of the dual adjustability and all the technologies that made the Sleep Number such a popular brand. But it doesnt stop there. It keeps refining the bed to achieve maximum support, pressure relief, and cooling capabilities.

What made the i10 an even irresistible choice is that it currently has a whopping $700 discount which makes it even cheaper than the iLE. In my book, thats a deal thats hard to miss.

Sleep Number Sleepopolis Customer Service Rating

  • Satisfactory: I spotted the chat option at the bottom right of the Sleep Number website when I first arrived. Finally, I was asked to enter my name, how they might assist me, my order number, and my zip code into a box. To further assist me, I was then connected to a virtual assistant bot. Because agent wasnt listed in the drop-down, I typed in the word. The wait was longer than usual at this time, and after a few minutes, I was informed as such. It just took 5 minutes for me to make a connection with a new acquaintance.

What Makes The P6 A Smart Bed

Sleep Number i8 Review 2018

We started mentioning it before, but now well go into the details. The Smart Series offers an extra suite of technology integrations so it can operate interactively and autonomously hence smart. The main feature is the Responsive Air technology, which well go over first. There are additional features as well, but these typically come with the FlexFit bases and are not included with the purchase of a mattress.

Responsive Air technology. Sleep Numbers Responsive Air technology senses and responds to your movements, automatically adjusting the beds level of comfort and support. There are pressure sensors in the air chambers to detect these movements, which then collect all of your data and send it to the Sleep Number app.

Snore-support! This one is an example of a cool feature if you purchase the FlexFit 2 or 3 adjustable bases. With your base, the bed can detect if you or your partner starts to snore, and it will automatically adjust the angle of the bed upwards to help it stop. The jury is still out if this feature actually works but the lack of complaints about snoring partners makes me wonder if it indeed is doing the trick.

Here are basic instructions on how to connect your SleepIQ to your other tracking apps:

  • Open & log into the SleepIQ app
  • Tap Settings in the bottom right-hand corner
  • Select Sleeper under Sleeper Profiles

    Sleep Number Performance Series Conclusion

Nothing in this world is perfect and the Sleep Number Performance beds are no exceptions to that rule. While they have many strengths and benefits, they also have a few glitches. If youre ready to face the potential challenges and can afford the extra cash, we have no reservations in recommending the p5, p6 and pSE Performance Series beds from Sleep Number.

    The Sleep Number Innovation Series

The Innovation Series is Sleep Numbers highest-end, plushest line. Although these mattresses arguably dont feel as plush as most foam or innerspring mattresses of similar price, the beds in this line actually feel like nice mattresses. If I were set on a Sleep Number mattress and could afford to do so, Id spend more for the Innovation lines added cushioning. But for someone like my husband, who just wants something adjustable and comfortable enough to sleep on, a less-expensive p6 would do just fine.

The i8 comes with 6 inches of foam and a temperature-balancing surface , and it felt pleasantly pillowy. The i10, with its additional inch of foam, was just a tad fluffier. Like the pSE from the companys Performance line, the iLE is not a typical fixture in-store, and it, too, has the ClimaTemp foam, described by the company as softer and more cooling.

Sleep Number Bed Sinks In The Middle

You might also notice slight valleys or sagging in the center for mattresses that come with two air chambers. To resolve this, check if the foam comfort layer where you usually lie on is less supported, softer, or thinner than the rest of the pad. To do this, you will need to open the mattress from the top cover panel then place the foam between your hands to inspect its current condition. If you notice that the foam has lost its support, you can contact your local Sleep Number store to request a replacement. In other instances, fluff the foam comfort layer by holding the top cover panel and shake it to even out the distribution. Make sure that you do this step on all four sides, and zip the cover back.

Use a Wireless Air Bed Pump compatible with your Sleep Number mattress to adjust its air chambers. This pump comes with a wireless remote that has custom setting options to help you find your exact comfort level.

    Leesa With Adjustable Base

    Sleep Number Alternatives

An incredible choice for hot, back and side sleepers, theLeesa with Adjustable Base is a popular and comfortable all-foam mattress. It brings with it an excellent balance of support and comfort making it a highly versatile choice for various types of sleepers.

Although it is all foam, it does a remarkable job of sleeping cool. Leesa utilizes a proprietary and high-quality LSA200 foam on its top comfort layer. The material is simultaneously responsive, breathable, bouncy and soft.

Under the top layer of foam is another one featuring slower-moving memory foam for more body contouring. The comfort layers are handy in creating a balanced foam feel that’s responsive and soft for the utmost pressure relief without getting stuck in the mattress.

While the memory foam and LSA200 foam is soft, its support layer is extremely firm making the mattress not-too-soft and not-too-firm.

Back sleeping on the mattress gives users a balance of support and comfort while the bottom base foam layer offers excellent overall support.

In terms of cover, the mattress has a breathable and soft cover made of twill fabric.

Sleep Number Mattresses Pros And Cons

In a sense, Sleep Number mattresses are just like any other: The top section is the comfort layer, while the bottom section provides support.

But instead of using layers of supportive foam or an innerspring system, the bottom portion of a Sleep Number mattress features an adjustable air chamber. It can be inflated or deflated to your preferred level of firmness.

Unfortunately, Sleep Number doesnt disclose what the comfort layer is made of. Reviewers describe it as cushiony but not necessarily plush. Some Sleep Number mattresses have thicker comfort layers.

Going with the C2 and adding my own bells and whistles

Very grateful for Candid Reviewer’s advice. We were interested in the C2 after seeing the excellent rating it received from Consumer Reports, with high marks for durability, side and back sleeping. We went to the sleep number store, stuck to our plan and avoided being up- sold, and bought both the recommended fiber topper and a gel topper to experiment with once the C2 arrives. We also are using our old metal frame with a queen-size bunkie board , for a nice savings compared to the $300 foundation from sleep number. More $ for new sheets and bedding!

Not perfect but best mattress I’ve had in….well ever.

I will not buy any other bed again.

Best bed I ever had. I’m a big person 300 Plus pounds…At year 10 the pump went out and I called…they still had my info and sold me a new pump at 1/2 price. It’s went through 2 moves and is still great! My husband is also big so it stands up to heavy folks. Folks on the phone were friendly and helpful. I’m looking now to buy my son one.

    P6 Smart Bed Mattress Feel

ReST Bed Review ( vs Sleep Number Comparison)!

The 360® p6, similar to the p5, will have a medium-firm feel. The 5 inches of comfort foam make it more plush and comfy than the c2 or c4 models, but its definitely not going to feel like youre sinking into a supportive cloud, which is the way some customers describer the softer models i8 and i10.

Of course, you can adjust your mattress to make the bed more firm or soft if you want a little more, or little less, support, but this comfort layer really dictates how youre going to feel.

The reason the p6 lands in mid-level firmness territory is five inches of foam support is just enough to feel soft, but isnt too thick where you feel like youre sinking. Medium-firm mattresses are generally good options for back sleepers or side sleepers who want a little extra cushion.

Many reviewers and testers rated the 360® p6 well for its flexibility. They could feel the difference of the Responsive Air technology adjusting their mattress as their bodies craved different levels of support. That adjustment with the five inches of pressure-relieving foam seemed to make many people happy. Others also spoke of neck and shoulder pain going away after sleeping on the p6, which might mean the bed does a great job of balancing firmness and safe support.

Sleep Number 360 I8 Smart Bed

    • Price: $$$
    • Type: adjustable air bed
    • Height: 12 inches

Sleep Number says their Innovation Series provides contouring and temperature control. It has a 6-inch comfort layer and fabric thats designed to absorb excess heat and keep you cool all night.

But the comfort comes at a price. This line is the most expensive of Sleep Numbers mattresses, and thats before you start upgrading.

The i8 Smart Bed has a lot of reviews: more than 26,000, with an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. More than 22,000 reviewers give it 5 stars. Many reviewers love the upgraded features, which add over $2,000 to the price tag.

Sleep Number 360 P6 Smart Bed Mattress Construction

P6 isnt some weird code name or inside joke among Sleep Number staff. Theres actually a method to their model naming! The p in p6 stands for Performance, pointing to the cooling technology and pressure relief features of this bed. The 6 stands for the number of body zones the mattress targets. In this case, Sleep Number claims the mattress will contour to your head, neck, shoulders, lower back, hips, and knees.

The performance series also includes the p5, which is said to be one of the most popular bed choices because of how it balances comfort with a decent price tag. While the p6 is a little more expensive, you get a little more bang for your buck: It comes with five inches of comfort foam and the mattress is one inch thicker. Moreover, the p6 includes a temperature regulating technology in the foam itself the p5 doesnt.

Heres the exact breakdown of a Sleep Number 360® p6 Smart Bed:

The mattress: The 360® p6 mattress has an 11 profile . This makes this one inch taller than the p5.

The material: The mattress is made of a rayon/polypropylene fabric blend.
