Flexfit 1 Sleep Number Bed

Sleep Number Performance P6 Vs Easy Rest Gel Lux Mattress

Sleep Number i8 and Flexfit Base Review

Shoppers in the market for a pressure-relieving, comfortable mattress have their fair share of choices, considering that every mattress type, from all-foam to airbed to hybrid, has options made with body-conforming comfort foam layers. If you struggle with back pain or pressure points, you may have considered the Sleep Number Performance p6, which has a thick, 5 polyfoam comfort layer and can range from medium-soft to firm in firmness level.

A comparable model, although not an airbed, is the Easy Rest Gel Memory Foam Mattress. It is 12 tall and features 4 of comfort foam and 1 of gel-ventilated holes for added pressure relief and cooling. Though these beds both deliver on comfort, they have discrepancies: namely, their styles and price points. A Queen size p6 costs $2,899, and a Queen size Easy Rest costs $879.

How Sleep Number Beds Work

Even though they have several different styles of mattresses, all Sleep Number beds operate in a very similar fashion. So, what makes a Sleep Number bed special? Well, there are three main parts to the mattresses the air chamber, the comfort foam, and the mattress top. The Air Chamber is the heart of the bed. When you pump it up or let air out, that is what changes the firmness or softness of the mattress . You control the air chamber via a remote or mobile app and if you have dual air chambers, each side is controlled individually. The comfort foam is present in nearly every model of Sleep Number bed except the C-2 Classic Series model. The comfort foam rests above the air chamber, but below the mattress top, which is also available in a variety of styles. The i10 and i8 models have a duvet style mattress top while the Performance Series has a pillowtop style. All three of these components make up a Sleep Number mattress. The model you select will determine what options you have to choose from.

Sleep Number / Select Comfort Company Ratings & Analysis

The ratings below â based on consumer experiences and the evaluation of Sleep Like The Dead â show how Sleep Number compares to the average mattress manufacturer.

Return policy D+ 100-day trial period which allows customer to â after 30 days â return the bed for an exchange or a 100% refund minus return shipping/delivery fee. A Better Nights Sleep Begins With A Phenomenal Mattress And Climate Control

A good nights sleep is hard to beat. Sleep, along with eating well and exercise are the building blocks of a healthy, wholesome person. When one of those things is out of whack, you sort of feel like a house of cards ready to tumble at any moment. When I was younger, I did a lot of stunts with my skateboard and liked to take risks. Many of those habits resulted in various injuries. So, over time, my aches and pains have been amplified and it has been hard for me to have a really good quality of sleep. Some of that has been due to my own ailments but a big part of it has to do with the bed I am using. Over the past five years, Ive cycled through several types of mattresses pillowtop, memory foam, memory foam/gel, etc. and none of them have been just right. I started thinking that I might never find the right bed for me and then I visited the Sleep Number booth at CES a few months back and was introduced to the i10 Smart Bed with Flexfit 1.

Who Can Use Sleep Number Adjustable Mattress

Sleep Number i10 Legacy FlexTop King Adjustable Mattress ...

Is the adjustable bed sleep number for you? If you are wondering whether or not you should invest in the FlexFit, you should consider these factors:

  • If your preferred mattress is an air bed. The heart of the Sleep Number bed is the adjustable air mattress, so if you are into this kind of mattress, then it is certainly worth the investment since it gives you complete control over how much air you wish to have on your side of the bed or your partners.
  • People with medical conditions or injuries. If you are suffering from acid reflux, snoring, or have a bad back, the combination of adjustable mattresses and FlexFit bases make it easier for you to find the comfort that you need, regardless of whether you want to sit up or lie back down.
  • Couples with different sleep positions. If you have a partner who has a different preference when it comes to the firmness of their mattress, the Sleep Number mattress is going to be a great option for you to consider. The dual air chambers of these mattresses give you control on how firm your side of the bed will be. They even have a comfort layer too that can be adjusted as you see fit.

Who Might Not Want A Sleep Number

  • People who love memory foam Depending on what is available, there are one possibly two Sleep Number models that offer a comfort layer made with memory foam. Those who love the feel of classic memory foam will be limited on Sleep Number beds, which are at their core adjustable air beds.
  • Couples who like to sleep close together One of the biggest complaints from couples is that a sagging/division is created in between the dual air chambers on the bed. Couples who like to sleep close or cuddle in the center of the bed feel as those they are sinking into the middle of the bed.

How To Choose A Base For Your Sleep Number Mattress

It seems like every Sleep Number product comes with some sort of it factor, whether thats a DualAir chamber that lets you adjust the firmness on your side of the bed, temperature-regulating fabrics that cover your mattress, or a bed base that warms your feet .

The one important thing to note, however, is not all items are sold together. If youre interested in purchasing a Sleep Number bed, the base is always sold separately. Plus, Sleep Number is often best known for pictures that show one half of the bed raised that indeed can happen, but only if you buy a certain type of base, which will make the cost of your bed increase substantially.

There are a handful of Sleep Number bases to choose from. If you dont want to buy from Sleep Number, the company also makes recommendations for other types of bases to use that will adequately support your mattress. Luckily, Sleep Number mattresses come in all standard industry mattress sizes, and will fit into traditional frames, too.

Now, lets break down the types of Sleep Number bases you can purchase alongside your mattress:

How To Choose The Right Model

There are several resources and ways to decide which mattress is the best match.

Online:

People can also get a quote or make a purchase online and through the Live Chat feature.

In-Store:

Sleep Number sells their beds in Sleep Number stores nationwide. Sleep Number Customer Service was unable to tell me exactly how many stores there are but estimated somewhere near 400.

Sleep Number stores can be found across the country, including Alaska and Hawaii. There are no international stores at the moment.

A sales representative at the store can help anyone who walks in find their Sleep Number and guide them towards the right model. They have a variety of beds out and available for testing if a person wants to feel one before he or she makes a purchase.

Beds come with a 30 or 100 night trial period plus a 25-year limited warranty.

Getting In Bed With The Competition

Here’s the thing, though. You can get a lot of the same sleep-tracking functionality from a much less expensive product. Eight sells mattresses, but its main smart device is its Sleep Tracker mattress pad.Ashlee Clark Thompson reviewed both the Eight Mars+ mattress and the Sleep Tracker mattress pad.

For just $419 in a king size and $399 in a queen size, the Eight Sleep Tracker retrofits to existing mattresses and tells you how you slept each night and even has an integrated heating element to keep you warm . The negative is that you’re missing all of that customization with the mattress firmness and the motorized base you get from Sleep Number, but you can use whatever frame and mattress you want with the Eight Sleep Tracker, so you still have tons of options. Eight’s Sleep Tracker also works with Alexa, IFTTT and Nest so you can connect your bed to more devices in your home.

The $199 Beautyrest Sleeptracker works similarly to Eight’s version, but it’s a device you put under your mattress, rather than a pad you fit over the entire mattress. You need one Beautyrest Sleeptracker per person, and you automatically get two with your $199 purchase . Beautyrest’s Sleeptracker only works with Alexa, though, and Molly Price said its tracking wasn’t as reliable as she expected during testing.

Unlike Sleep Number and Eight, you have to buy the Winkbed mattress to use the bed’s temperature control feature.

A Smarter Night’s Sleep

The Sleep Number 360 i8 Smart Bed keeps your body cool thanks to its temperature-balancing sleep surface, while the FlexFit 3 base warms your feet with a built-in heater. Its excellent SleepIQ companion app allows for truly customizable comfort, letting you adjust the firmness and the position of the mattress to suit your preferences. It tracks your sleep health and biometrics, and offers useful tips to help improve your shut eye. Priced at $6,198 for the mattress and base configuration we tested, it will put a dent in your bank account, but a good night’s rest is crucial for health, and the Sleep Number i8 makes every night a dream, earning it our Editors’ Choice award.

If a Sleep Number is out of your budget, however, the Eight Sleep Pod Pro Mattress looks to be a promising alternative. It isn’t adjustable like a Sleep Number, but it tracks similar sleep and health metrics, supports dual-zone heating and cooling, and can vibrate to wake you up without disturbing your partner. We haven’t tested it yet, but an older Eght Sleep model scored well, and at half the price of the Sleep Number, it’s worth a look.

Adjustable Beds & Compatible Mattresses

Sleep Number® FlexFit 2/3 vs Personal Comfort® Power-Flex 4 Adjustable Power Base

Since mattresses are made from layers of different materials, they will also be more or less responsive when being elevated. Thats because the materials used in their construction have different levels of rigidity or density. When a mattress is matched with an adjustable bed, it needs to be both flexible and durable, but without sacrificing support. On a general note, adjustable beds are compatible with 4 different types of mattresses: innerspring, latex foam, memory foam and air beds.
