The first thing I did was go into our local Sleep Number store. I have not been in there in years and the people working in our Mobile, Al store were very friendly and knowledgeable. They explained what made the i8 special and tried to find my number. Keep in mind when you go into a store you are likely not tired and testing out the mattress is very limited. In the store I was most comfortable at setting 25, however, at home, my setting is actually between a 65-75.

FlexFit 1

• You have chronic pain. Many reviewers felt a major difference in their pain level when they switched to this bed. Especially people suffering from back pain. Being able to adjust the level of firmness depending on your needs at that moment seemed to be very helpful.

• You are older. A lot of customers were very impressed with the P-5 model and made a point to say they were over 60 years old. The physical changes that can come with aging may make it difficult to sleep and the customization of this bed seemed to help address some of these issues.

Before You Buy A Mattress

Size: you may only have a double now but with the expense of a mattress, consider if the size of the mattress is the size you want to be in long term. We started out on a queen but chose to upgrade to a King about 5 years ago and its been the best decision I could have made. Early in 2017, Sleep Number introduced its 360 Smart Beds series. Part of the smart bed trend, the beds in this series will automatically adjust the Sleep Number and the position in response to sensors monitoring of the users movements. For two-user beds, this includes separate adjustments for each side.

The models in this series include the new p6 Bed from the Performance Series and two the new i7 Bed and the revised i10 Bed from the Innovation Series. The Memory Foam Series has been discontinued. By January 2018, they no longer listed their beds by the existing series, but as Sleep Number Beds and 360 Smart Beds.

2018 Revisions Down to One

In 2016, three to four Sleep Number beds had memory foam. These included the regularly listed m7, m9, and i10, and the occasionally listed limited edition models mLE and iLE. This does not take into account beds made especially for the shopping channel QVC. Now the new i7 Bed is the only Sleep Number model with memory foam. The i10 and the iLE have been revised in height and content, no longer including memory foam in their constructions.

The low end of each price range refers to the size noted in the chart. The high end refers to a split or flextop California king bed, unless noted. Split and flextop mattresses are the same pricea split mattress works for a base that adjusts only the upper body a flextop works for one that adjusts to both upper and lower bodyand theyre around $200 to $600 more expensive than a regular mattress of the same size.

People Who Are on a Budget.The I-LE is the second most expensive Sleep Number model. It retails at $5299.00 for a Queen size mattress. It has a lot to offer and customers seem to really enjoy this mattress. However, if people are trying to save money, it may not the best fit.

Owner Review Feedback For Sleep Number Mattresses

Sleep Number mattresses are typically purchased directly from Sleep Number, so thats where we found the majority of the online reviews. Out of the 34 good-quality negative user reviews we collected about the Classic Series , 10 contained complaints about issues related to a lack of cushioning. This included reviewers describing the mattress as too firm, too thin, bottoming out, or having poor pressure relief. Several reviewers pointed out that the c series is especially problematic for heavier-weight sleepers, and others noted the support felt better once they added a mattress topper.

For negative feedback on the Performance Series, we found far fewer complaints related specifically to the mattress thinness . But four out of 26 good-quality negative Innovation Series reviews noted that the mattresses were too firm or offered poor pressure relief. Perhaps this is to be expected, given that these users paid much more for their mattresses and therefore expected more. Three out of the six Cooling Memory Foam owners complained that their mattresses were either too thin, too firm, or lacked pressure relief.

The iLE bed is at the top of the Innovation line for Sleep Number. It comes with multiple foam layers over the air support system. It is softer than other mattresses so may not be right if you are a stomach sleeper or of a heavy build. Most folks liked their iLE bed, but some had issues with the feel and durability.
