I read and watched multiple reviews and was a little skeptical about if this mattress would be a good fit for me. I decided to give it a try, and am so happy with my decision. I have only been able to sleep on it a few nights, so I can’t speak to long term satisfaction, but just the feel of the mattress is so unique and comfortable. Every time I pass by my bed now, I can’t help but flop on it and lay there for a few minutes. If you are on the fence about trying the mattress, I would say go for it for sure. The only disadvantage that I’ve noticed so far is that it is near impossible to get out of bed in the morning. I was a few minutes late to work the last few mornings because I did not want to leave my bed. When I was reading all the reviews, I heard that purple fluffs up their review page to make their mattress look better. After trying this mattress, I do not believe that is true. I believe that people genuinely love the product and want to share it with other people. I am not typically one to go out of my way to write a review, but this product is incredible so I felt compelled to do so. Obviously everyone is different so you may not have the same experience I have had, but if you are on the fence and looking for a great mattress, give Purple a try.

It uses a touchless biometric sensor to track how you sleep each night. It monitors your breathing rate, your movement in bed and your heart rate.

That data is claimed to be able to enable the system to make adjustments to the bed while you sleep to keep you comfortable all night. If you go to bed around the same time each night, it warms the bottom of the bed so your feet are warm immediately. There are other features of the Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed, but you do pay for them!

Going with the C2 and adding my own bells and whistles

Very grateful for Candid Reviewer’s advice. We were interested in the C2 after seeing the excellent rating it received from Consumer Reports, with high marks for durability, side and back sleeping. We went to the sleep number store, stuck to our plan and avoided being up- sold, and bought both the recommended fiber topper and a gel topper to experiment with once the C2 arrives. We also are using our old metal frame with a queen-size bunkie board , for a nice savings compared to the $300 foundation from sleep number. More $ for new sheets and bedding!

Not perfect but best mattress I’ve had in….well ever.

I will not buy any other bed again.

Best bed I ever had. I’m a big person 300 Plus pounds…At year 10 the pump went out and I called…they still had my info and sold me a new pump at 1/2 price. It’s went through 2 moves and is still great! My husband is also big so it stands up to heavy folks. Folks on the phone were friendly and helpful. I’m looking now to buy my son one.

It is difficult to determine an accurate mattress firmness since we are taking a look at both brands as a whole. However, Sleep Number offers a wider range of firmness options due to the customizable air chambers. When choosing between the different Sleep Number models, choose mattresses with thicker comfort layers for a plusher feel. Conversely, less foam in the top layers translates to an overall firmer surface feel.

That being said, Sleep Number uses a single air chamber on either side of the bed. When lying on the mattress the air is pushed towards the head and feet and can leave the midsection unsupported. Customer reviews show this is a common problem, leaving many frustrated with the lack of support. Heavyweight Sleepers Over 230 Lbs

The Purple could be supportive enough for heavyweight sleepers who are close to 230 pounds. The Purple could be a great match for heavyweight side sleepers, who will activate the gel grid to enjoy pressure relief around the shoulder and hip. The Purple might be supportive enough for some heavyweight stomach sleepers, but much heavier folks will probably want a more supportive mattress.

Folks who are close to 230 pounds could find a balance of comfort and support while back sleeping on the Tempur-Cloud however, folks who are much heavier than that will probably need a more supportive mattress with coils. The Tempur-Cloud might not be ideal for heavyweight side sleepers, who could press through the softer comfort layers into the firmer support layers underneath. Heavyweight stomach sleepers will want to look for a more supportive mattress.

Sleep Trial And Warranty:

Both companies offer a sleep trial with their mattresses. The Sleep Number trial is 100 nights, but if you decide to return the mattress, you must pay the original shipping and set-up fees plus the return shipping fee. This can be several hundred dollars.

The Tempur-Pedic trial is 90 nights, but you must keep the mattress for at least 30 nights before returning it. You also pay shipping costs, but these are much less than those charged by Sleep Number.

Tempur-Pedic also offers a 10-year warranty. The firm will repair or replace your bed free of charge within the first 10 years. The Sleep Number warranty is only two years. After two years you must pay 20% of any repair costs up to 20 years, and 96% of repair costs from 20 to 25 years. You will be very lucky for a mattress to last that long!
