In a sense, Sleep Number mattresses are just like any other: The top section is the comfort layer, while the bottom section provides support.
But instead of using layers of supportive foam or an innerspring system, the bottom portion of a Sleep Number mattress features an adjustable air chamber. It can be inflated or deflated to your preferred level of firmness.
Unfortunately, Sleep Number doesnt disclose what the comfort layer is made of. Reviewers describe it as cushiony but not necessarily plush. Some Sleep Number mattresses have thicker comfort layers.
Sleep Trial / Refunds
Personal Comfort offers two different 120 night sleep trials. One is risk-free while the other involves customer costs related to a return.
The Classic Series models A2, A3, A4 come with a 120 Night Sleep Trial that is not risk-free. For this sleep trial, you are required to keep the mattress for 45 nights to try it out. If you return the mattress before these 45 days are up, you will be charged a 25% restocking fee. After 45 nights, you can return the mattress and receive a refund of your purchase price minus a $149 restocking fee . If you decide to return the mattress, you must send it back to the company, and the company suggests keeping your original packaging. If you ship it back in more boxes than used to ship the mattress to you, then you are responsible for any excess shipping charges.
The 120 Night Risk-Free Sleep Trial applies to all of the mattresses in the Performance , Elegance , and Memory Foam product lines. Again, you are required to keep the mattress for 45 days or be subject to a 25% restocking fee for an early return. After those 45 days, you can return the mattress at no charge. The company covers return shipping costs as long as you fit the mattress into the same number of boxes as were used to send the bed to you. During this sleep trial, you can also request a comfort exchange in which you send back your mattress, and the company ships out a new mattress. If you use this option, which is available only one time, the 120 night sleep trial resets.
Sleep Number Innovation Series I8 Vs Tempur
The i8 is one of three mattresses in Sleep Numbers Innovation line, which has above-average pricing and is the most luxurious of the three Sleep Number lines. While the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR ProAdapt doesnt have adjustable air chambers, it comes in three firmness settings: soft, medium, and firm.
Qualities the mattresses share include a 12 height, deep pressure relief, and a high price point. The i8 and the TEMPUR ProAdapt can accommodate a wide range of sleepers, have high-quality construction, and have great durability ratings.

Core Line 15 Year Limited Warranty
In a nutshell, Sleep Number will repair or replace your c2 or c4 bed if theres a defect that wasnt caused by human error. In other words, if something wrong happens to the bed that was due to a production error, thats on the Sleep Number crew. This will be completely covered for the first two years.
From year 3-15 of the limited warranty, you will become responsible to pay for a portion of the repair and replacement cost. Sleep Number calculates the exact amount based on the then-current prices of each product. This warranty also covers the Firmness Control system that is a part of the mattress.
360 Smart Bed 15 Year Limited Warranty
Most of the same rules apply for the 360® smart bed warranty. Additionally, any tech-related issues that arise that are related to defects in materials or workmanship with the SleepIQ module will be covered. However, after two years, nothing related to SleepIQ will be covered.

Sleep Number Trial And Warranty
Sleep Number offers a 100-night trial that begins the day your new mattress arrives. The company asks that you give yourself 30 nights to adjust to your new mattress.
If youre not happy after 30 nights and before the 100-night trial ends, you can contact the company to arrange a return or exchange. This is a necessary step, as Sleep Number must authorize all returns. Some accessories, including bases, cant be returned.
Shipping and delivery fees apply for any permitted returns. In some cases, the only available return shipping option may mean the product is picked up by Sleep Number at your cost. Returns cant be processed in retail stores.
Sleep Number mattresses have a 15-year limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use. If you have a claim during the first warranty year, you dont have to pay for repairs, but you may be responsible for shipping fees.
Costs go up significantly after the first year. Through year 11, youre responsible for paying 30 percent plus 5 percent for each year from the date of purchase if you have a claim. From year 11 to year 15, youll pay 85 percent of the costs if you have a claim.

The Sleep Number 360 c2 is an air bed that adjusts to your preferred firmness level, so you can find the perfect firmness for your body type and sleeping position. It comes with a remote so that you can adjust the amount of air with just a click.
The difference between the two mattresses is 1 inch of thickness. The c2 has a 2-inch layer in the top comfort layer made of gel-infused foam on top of the 6-inch air chamber layer. The c4 has a 3-inch layer. Also, the c4 has zoned support in the comfort layer, meaning its less dense to contour to hips and shoulders or more dense to support the neck or lower back. The Classic line beds are the most affordable you will find at Sleep Number.

What Makes Them So Different
Both ReST and Sleep Number apps were fairly easy to use. The one issue we had with Sleep Number is the connectivity. The pump has to connect through the bluetooth/wifi and if the signal strength in your bedroom is not strong you could have issues. We had connectivity issues at least once a week, if not more. When that happened, it was a lengthy process of calling the Sleep Number support line and troubleshooting. Consider picking up a signal booster to circumvent this problem. On the other hand, ReST has its own built-in wifi on the pump so we didnt have any connectivity issues.
Sleep Number Mattress Pricing
Sleep Number mattresses fall into the luxury mattress category. Website pricing for queen mattresses is $899 to $4,299, depending on the model. These prices dont include optional upgrades, like regular or adjustable bases.
Sleep Number mattresses are generally comparable to other luxury mattresses. Best bed I have ever slept on. Easily half the price of a Sleep Number and the quality is so much better. The mattress is outstanding and the frame is great too. The frame is actually a Reverie which is another bed company, which I thought was interesting but it is simply perfect. The Sleep Number Innovation Series
The Innovation Series is Sleep Numbers highest-end, plushest line. Although these mattresses arguably dont feel as plush as most foam or innerspring mattresses of similar price, the beds in this line actually feel like nice mattresses. If I were set on a Sleep Number mattress and could afford to do so, Id spend more for the Innovation lines added cushioning. But for someone like my husband, who just wants something adjustable and comfortable enough to sleep on, a less-expensive p6 would do just fine.
The i8 comes with 6 inches of foam and a temperature-balancing surface , and it felt pleasantly pillowy. The i10, with its additional inch of foam, was just a tad fluffier. Like the pSE from the companys Performance line, the iLE is not a typical fixture in-store, and it, too, has the ClimaTemp foam, described by the company as softer and more cooling.
