When Do The Sleep Number Beds Go On Sale
According to the Sleep Number representatives I spoke to about mattress sales, the beds go on sale all the time.
Although there are no guarantees on when a Sleep Number bed will be discounted, all the representatives I spoke to said that there are some sales around most major holidays, especially for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
If you have got one model in mind, in particular, it might be worth it to keep an eye on the price. One representative told me that every single mattress has been on sale at the same time before. She couldnt tell me when that would happen again but at least we know its possible.

Sleep Number Mattresses Pros And Cons
In a sense, Sleep Number mattresses are just like any other: The top section is the comfort layer, while the bottom section provides support.
But instead of using layers of supportive foam or an innerspring system, the bottom portion of a Sleep Number mattress features an adjustable air chamber. It can be inflated or deflated to your preferred level of firmness.
Unfortunately, Sleep Number doesnt disclose what the comfort layer is made of. Reviewers describe it as cushiony but not necessarily plush. Some Sleep Number mattresses have thicker comfort layers.
What Are The Problems With Sleep Number Beds

There are a number of complaints about the mattress, but the top five we found were poor customer service, price of the mattress, breakdowns and malfunctions, comfort and what is called trench affect. While Sleep Number mattresses can last well over 10 years, there are tell-tale signs that it might be time to shop for a new model.

- Sagging – A common complaint is that the middle between the two adjustable sides tends to sag and have a sinking-in feeling. If this becomes more prominent, it’s a good sign it’s time to replace.

$1000 Adjustable Air Bed Is Just As Comfortable As A $3000 Model
Whats the difference between a $1,000 Sleep Number adjustable air mattress and one that costs three times that? Not much according to Consumer Reports latest mattress tests. The Sleep Number c2 Bed matched the Sleep Number i8 bed Pillowtop, $3,000, in our tests for back and side support. Even better, we bought the Sleep Number c2 Bed on sale for $700. Here are the details plus news on other new mattresses in our tests.
For our body-support tests we graph the spines natural curve on a range of test subjects. Then we evaluate back support by recording how thoroughly a mattress maintains that curve. For side support, we check whether the mattress keeps the spine relatively horizontal when a test subject lies on her side. The best mattresses have a good score or better for both.
In our tests, across various firmness settings, the Sleep Number c2 Bed and the more expensive Sleep Number i8 bed Pillowtop both delivered impressive side support and even better back support. And the c2 Bed was more stable, which means less annoying to your mate when you change sleep positions.
Among adjustable air beds, we also tested the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Choice Supreme, at $3,200 the most expensive of the trio in our tests. Although it was impressive for back support, the Tempur-Pedic was an also-ran behind the two recommended Sleep Numbers. But another Tempur-Pedic, the $1,200 Tempur-Pedic Tempur Simplicity, was among our top picks in foam mattresses.

The Sleep Number Cooling Memory Foam
The m7 is the only Sleep Number bed that offers the hugging sensation of memory foam. If you and your sleep partner prefer a light memory-foam cradling, and if you cant agree on a firmness level, then the m7 may be a worthwhile, albeit expensive, option. However, the company doesnt divulge what, exactly, is in that foamy comfort portion, so we dont know how dense, and therefore durable, it is. The sinky-ness of the m7 is comparable to that of most online foam mattresses . It has a slight sinking sensation, but not the more-assertive curve-conforming feel of something like the Tempur-Adapt.

Sleep Number Bed Leaks
Another complaint people made was that their Sleep Number bed leaks. Basically, you’re sleeping on pockets of air which, over time can slowly begin to deflate and cause problems. Sometimes it’s just a matter of reinflating the mattress a little bit every few days. Other times you may need a new air pump which doesn’t seem to last very long.
There’s also been strange reports of the Select Comfort remote developing a mind of it’s own and changing the sleep number at random times. It would probably get annoying having to constantly reset your comfort level. However, people have said that when they called customer service the company quickly sent replacement parts to fix the problem. So, it appears they do honor their 20 year warranty.
The Sleep Number Value Beds
The Value Bed line is Sleep Numbers bed in a box option. The company is planning to discontinue it in the near future, but for now, given the current coronavirus crisis, it has gained in popularity because of its contact-free delivery. The Value lines s1 and the s3 mattresses cost about the same as the beds in the Classic line, but they have a quilted cushion layer . That quilted layer is zoned to cater to various pressure points there are five different cushioned areas in the s1 and seven in the s3. The company doesnt divulge details about its foam, so were not sure how the zones differ. But we do know that this comfort portion isnt thicker than the 2 inches we found wanting in the Classic lines entry-level c2, and the air pump sits on the floor, as opposed to being integrated into the mattress itself, like with the other lines. And although the Value line comes with SleepIQ technology, the Value Beds dont have the smart feature that allows them to conform to your body as you shift positions. We havent tried this line, but given how spartan the c line felt, we cant imagine that any amount of quilting or zoning would compensate for the thin comfort layer.

Will my bed deflate if there is a power surge or power loss during the night? No. Your mattress will maintain its firmness, even if power is interrupted. Discount Sleep Number Mattresses
Unlike most mattress retailers, the company has a strict no-haggling policy. So you can’t go into a Select Comfort outlet and negotiate a better price. Discount Sleep Number mattresses are available however, because their stores have sales regularly. You can often find a Select Comfort sale going on at their official website as well. Do your research before going to the store and don’t let the salespeople talk you into buying a more expensive model.
We also found in Select Comfort reviews that some people reported feeling like they were sleeping on a cheap air mattress for camping. We believe this will only be noticeable with the less expensive models which come with very little cushioning between you and the air chambers. For this reason we recommend not buying anything lower than their mid-level products.
When Do Mattresses Go On Sale
Retailers may try to sweeten the deal with a free mattress cover or sheets, but stick to your gunsyou want a comfortable mattress and a good deal. So haggle, working out specifics such as the delivery fee and removal of your old mattress, warranty, and return policy. And when the mattress is delivered, lie on it to be sure its what you expected. If you see any damage, refuse delivery and ask for a replacement.

Owner Review Feedback For Sleep Number Mattresses
Sleep Number mattresses are typically purchased directly from Sleep Number, so thats where we found the majority of the online reviews. Out of the 34 good-quality negative user reviews we collected about the Classic Series , 10 contained complaints about issues related to a lack of cushioning. This included reviewers describing the mattress as too firm, too thin, bottoming out, or having poor pressure relief. Several reviewers pointed out that the c series is especially problematic for heavier-weight sleepers, and others noted the support felt better once they added a mattress topper.
For negative feedback on the Performance Series, we found far fewer complaints related specifically to the mattress thinness . But four out of 26 good-quality negative Innovation Series reviews noted that the mattresses were too firm or offered poor pressure relief. Perhaps this is to be expected, given that these users paid much more for their mattresses and therefore expected more. We bought our iLE Sleep Number around a year ago as our primary bed. We caught the Labor Day sale which the bed was half off. We could not be happier. I was little cautious about buying a bed with a pillow top, but its been year and still in perfect condition. I also liked that you can unzip the pillow top and move it around or even replace it if you ever need to do so. It took us a little time to find our Sleep Number and it ranges within 5-10 on the number scale, but overall its a great sleeping experience. I read a lot of reviews both good & bad before purchasing which helped with understanding how the bed works. It cut down the adjustment time considerably. I recommend reading the reviews before you purchase and considering all options. For us the iLE turned out to be a good investment so far.
