Brand New Fiction Podcast

July 8th, its a beautiful day, the sun is shining the birds are chirping and everyone’s dead.

That is quite the ominous opening from the brand new fictional podcast show The Edge Of Sleep.

The Edge Of Sleep has been garnering a significant amount of 5-star reviews from listeners and after delving into just a few of the initial episodes I can personally relate to the enthusiasm and passion for the show.

This Show Provides Examples Of:

  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: With the exception of episode 7, the episodes are named “The X” where X is an important event or item that occurred in the episode.
  • Insomnia Episode: The entire series is this, but the effects of the lack of sleep are most shown in episodes 7 and 8.
  • Mundanger: The Trespasser isn’t related to the supernatural phenomenon that is afflicting those who died in their sleep. He’s just a Serial Rapist who uses the opioid epidemic to get away with his crimes.
  • No Name Given: The Trespasser is never given a name.
  • Passed in Their Sleep: This seems to be what happened to everyone who fell asleep the night before. It ends up being something much worse.
  • Phony Veteran: The Trespasser tries to use this as an excuse, but the real vet Mateo asks if he went to BCT at a post that doesn’t even have it. So when the Trespasser says he did, Mateo knows he’s lying and calls him out.
  • Seen It All: Linda works as a nurse, so she’s seen some pretty crazy stuff. While the situation at hand catches her off guard, she is able to adapt better than the other characters. Even the military vet Mateo.
  • Sleep Deprivation: Happens to the main characters as they try to fly to Papua New Guinea after over 72 hours awake.
  • Slept Through the Apocalypse: Inverted. The only surviving members of humanity are those who didn’t go to sleep.
  • Thirsty Desert: What Dave experiences in his dream in Episode 6.
  • The Edge Of Sleep: Markiplier Analeigh Tipton Eve Harlow Star In Tv Series

The Edge of Sleep, a new thrilling podcast from the ...

The QCode podcast The Edge of Sleep is being turned into a television series, and YouTuber Mark Fischback, a.k.a. Markiplier, will be reprising his role from the podcast on the show. Markiplier is being joined in the cast by Analeigh Tipton and Eve Harlow.

a night watchman who finishes his shift at work to discover that everyone in the world who went to sleep the previous night has died. He and a band of survivors must stay awake and uncover the secret of the terrifying global epidemic before they too fall asleep.

New Regency is financing The Edge of Sleep, with the podcast’s creators Jake Emanuel and Willie Block serving as writers and showrunners. Corey Adams is set to direct every episode of the show, with filming scheduled to begin in British Columbia next month.

Emanuel, Block, and Adams will also be executive producing alongside Markiplier, New Regency, QCode, Automatik, and Oddfellows.

I had never heard of The Edge of Sleep before this announcement, but the concept is intriguing. I might have to check out the podcast while waiting to see how this TV show goes.

The Edge Of Sleep A New Thrilling Podcast From The Company Behind Carrier And Blackout Is Now Available

I wrote about the Carrier podcast a few months back, and I got a lot of great feedback from listeners who loved the show as well. Last week, I got word that the QCODE team behind Carrier was about to release the first two episodes of a brand new show called The Edge of Sleep.

In The Edge of Sleep, we follow a group of strangers who band together after discovering that everyone in the world who went to sleep the previous night, is now dead. The series is a race against the clock as our heroes try to discover why people are dying in their sleep. As every hour passes they grow more tired and more paranoid as they force themselves to stay awake. What has happened to the world? Why has sleep become a death sentence? When the truth is uncovered it is almost impossible to believe

The first two episodes are now available, and I am really excited about this story. Like I said when I wrote about Carrier, I feel like we are entering a golden of age of storytelling with the podcast medium. The Edge of Sleep is the first project to come out of QCODEs new Wood Elf Label aimed at matching creators with original narrative genre podcasts. New episodes will be released every Tuesday so now to get started.

The Edge of Sleep was created by Jake Emanuel and Willie Block. Additional cast members include Cara Santana, Victor Rasuk, Pat Healy, Marcia Cross, Alex Essoe, Joshua Leonard, Rob Morrow, and Rose Gilroy.
