  • Adjust Sleeper Settings And Enjoy

Now that you have completed how to assemble a Sleep Number bed, it is time to adjust your sleeper settings to your preference. Lay on your smart bed and use the remote to slowly decrease the Sleep Number or firmness setting until you reach your desired comfort level. Have your partner do the same if you have a dual-system. Once done, all that is left for you to do is enjoy a long nap or look forward to a heavenly nights sleep!

Despite your Sleep Number beds smart technology, you will need to give yourself and the bed time before you can determine your ideal sleeper setting. When using the bed for the first time, the built-in sensors begin to track your sleep movements, respiration, and heart rate. However, it takes about three to four nights on a specific sleeper setting before you can truly say that your body has become accustomed to your new bed and that you have found the perfect comfort level.

Assembly is easier for Sleep Number 360 Smart Beds as the mattress split or standard is delivered in one piece. There will be no need to assemble it manually. All you have to do is attach the magnetic parts of the mattress to the top of the FlexiFit base once the latter is completely set up. This Sleep Number video shows you just how easy it is to assemble a Sleep Number 360® Smart FlexFit bed:

Sleep Number Flexfit 2 Base Vs Leggett & Platt Prodigy 20

Many shoppers who start off on the search for an adjustable mattress dont realize that what they might actually prefer is an adjustable base, which allows you to elevate your head and feet and create endless positions that cater to in-bed activities, like reading and watching TV.

Adjustable bases may also improve sleep issues like snoring and sleep apnea. Sleep Number offers three adjustable bases that work with nearly any of its airbeds, and the FlexFit 2 is the middle-of-the-road price option. It comes in nine sizes, including split King, is backed by a 25-year warranty, and has under-bed lighting and other luxury features.

The Leggett & Platt Prodigy 2.0 is an alternative to the Sleep Number base, with a similar price point, great reviews on Amazon, three size options, including split King, and a 10-year warranty.

The Sleep Number Cooling Memory Foam

The m7 is the only Sleep Number bed that offers the hugging sensation of memory foam. If you and your sleep partner prefer a light memory-foam cradling, and if you cant agree on a firmness level, then the m7 may be a worthwhile, albeit expensive, option. However, the company doesnt divulge what, exactly, is in that foamy comfort portion, so we dont know how dense, and therefore durable, it is. The sinky-ness of the m7 is comparable to that of most online foam mattresses . It has a slight sinking sensation, but not the more-assertive curve-conforming feel of something like the Tempur-Adapt.

Place The Foam Walls And Base Pad

How To Move A Sleep Number® FlexFit Base

With your mattress top open, begin building the structure of your bed. First, make sure the notches or corner lock mechanism located at the ends of each wall face inwards, as they help give shape to and complete the rest of the wall support. Next, start with placing the long foam sidewalls along each side of the bed, followed by the end walls. Once the side and end walls are secured in place, lay the base pad flat in the middle part of the mattress.

To prevent any foam from folding, shake the base pad out before laying it into the bottom of the mattress cover. If it is dual-sided a textured side and a smooth side then make sure the smooth side faces downwards and the smooth side upwards. Also, do not forget to place the air chambers on top later on, with both hose connections facing the head of the bed. With these three parts placed properly, you will now have full access to the inside of the case, which will allow you to begin layering the bed and installing air technology.

Review Of The Sleep Number 360 I8 Smart Bed

I’m a side sleeper but will spend time in every sleeping position. Using the SleepIQ app , you can turn on the “responsive air” function, which automatically adjusts the firmness as you change positions. This gives you consistent comfort and pressure relief. It worked seamlessly and did a good job of facilitating restful, undisturbed sleep.

The Sleep Number 360 i8 Smart Bed uses ballistocardiography, a measure of ballistic forces coming from your heart, to calculate your quality of sleep and provide a sleep score. After you track your sleep for several weeks and input your sleep goals, the app offers tips for more productive sleep.

In the six months my wife and I tested the bed, Sleep Number has made several tweaks to the app that have improved the sleep-tracking accuracy. I checked for accuracy by comparing the data to my Garmin Forerunner 945 smartwatch readings and my subjective experience.

Sleep Number is best known for its adjustable firmness. The mattress has 20 firmness levels. Your “sleep number” is your preferred firmness level from 5 to 100 . My sleep number was 35, but my wife preferred 55. Fortunately, the two sides are individually adjustable so couples with vastly different preferences can be comfortable.

I was impressed with the edge support of the mattress. I felt comfortable sitting on the side of the bed to put my socks and shoes on and when I laid on the edge to cuddle my wife in the morning.

    What The Numbers Mean

Sleep Number is all about beds, but in case it wasnt obvious, theyre also all about numbers.

A persons Sleep Number number corresponds to the individuals ideal firmness and support.Numbers range from 0 to 100 and the higher the number, the more air/firmer the feel of the Sleep Number bed will be.

Likewise, the lower the Sleep Number, the less air will be in the air chamber and the softer the bed will be.

Sleep Numbers are super personal and can change. If an individual determines what he or she thinks his or her setting is in the store and go home and dont like it, there is no reason the person cant adjust the number till he or she finds a good fit.

Qualities the mattresses share include a 12 height, deep pressure relief, and a high price point. The i8 and the TEMPUR ProAdapt can accommodate a wide range of sleepers, have high-quality construction, and have great durability ratings.

Understanding The Sleep Number Bed And Smart Mattresses

Sleep Number i8 Dual Air Queen SMART BED W/ FLEXFIT 2 ...

To keep things simple, well go over the features and solutions that the most basic Sleep Number bed offers sleepers, and this model is the C2 Bed Set. Its the most affordable variant, which means that if youre looking to buy into the Sleep Number brand on the cheap, this will be your only option.

Youll notice that the most significant differences between all of the Sleep Number beds are their mattress thickness and foam covering. All of the mattresses offer comparable sleep quality and comfort, with major differences merely coming from the air pumps and foam padding surrounding them.

For those wanting some insight into the intelligent and adaptable air pumps, we can outline that the process works quite simply:

The bed is connected to an air pump, which works to inflate or deflate each of the air chambers within the mattress. Youll use the provided remote to adjust the Sleep Number Beds air chambers to suit your personal comfort preferences, or youre able to leave it to the Sleep Number Beds Responsive Air® technology which adjusts automatically as you sleep.

Air Bed Deflation and Overnight Changes

One big question our readers have is whether air mattresses deflate or flatten throughout the night. Were able to say that yes, it will slowly deflate and change overnight without you doing anything, which is simply a result of mattresses not being completely airtight and your sleep position.

    Ratings And Reviews Common Praise

    • Couples love being able to personalize the firmness of their side of the bed. The dual air chambers available on most models means that someone who prefers a firmer bed doesnt have to compromise with a partner who likes more cushion. If one person likes to sleep on their side and another doesnt, they have a great solution here.
    • People with back problems or medical issues that require them to sit up at different points love the flexibility of Sleep Number beds. They can adjust the firmness of their bed for a couple of nights if needed and can raise/lower the head of their bed with a FlexFit Adjustable Base depending on their current needs.
    • There was heavy praise for the longevity and durability of the Sleep Number bed.People came back to Sleep Numbers site to say theyve had their bed for 10+ years and they are still comfortable. Of course, not everyone was able to stay comfortable in their bed for a decade without experiencing issues, but people tended to have their Sleep Number bed for a long time.

Sleep Number Classic Series C2 Vs Personal Comfort A2 Bed

Both the Sleep Number Classic Series c2 and Personal Comfort A2 mattresses are airbeds. Like Sleep Number, Personal Comfort exclusively produces airbeds with customizable firmness levels to suit your weight and sleep position, but Personal Comforts prices tend to be lower. The A2 is part of Personal Comforts Classic Series, which is the most affordable of the brands five airbed lines.

The A2 is 9 thick, is dual-sided, and has a 1 comfort layer. The c2 by Sleep Number is 8 thick, is dual-sided, and has a 2 gel-infused comfort layer. Overall, the beds are very similar in construction, but the Sleep Number c2 devotes a bit more material to the comfort layer and is, surprisingly, more affordable than the Personal Comfort A2.

Couples and partners seem to love Sleep Number beds for their dual air chambers and ability to adjust the firmness to their desire. A lot of couples found the i8 was a really comfortable option that left both partners happy.

Keeps Your Feet Warm And Your Body Cool

Sleep Number i8 and Flexfit Base Review

If you’re always cold, you’re probably going to want the FlexFit 3 for its signature foot-warming feature, which isn’t available on the company’s other adjustable bases. As its name suggests, this feature warms just the foot end of the bed. It takes around 15 to 30 minutes to heat up. “Research has shown that having your feet gently warmed may help you fall asleep faster,” Sleep Number says.

With a dual-chamber mattress, you can individually control this feature on each side, so one person can have the foot warmer turned on and the other can have it turned off.

In testing, this feature has worked wonderfully. I have it set to High, and it gets toasty but not too hot. My one gripe is that you can only enable this feature as part of a Routine in the SleepIQ app. And since it’s only available in the Routines section of the Bed tab, it’s a bit hard to find.

To enable it, navigate to Bed > View Routines > Create a New Schedule. From there, you can select certain days of the week, set your bedtime, and set the foot warming temperature . After creating your Routine, the foot warmer will turn on 30 minutes before your bedtime, so it’s ready when you hop in. As you fall asleep, it will automatically cool down.

If you want to turn it on outside of your normal bedtime, you have to create a new Routine, which is sort of a hassle. I wish there was a button in the app to let you turn it on and off whenever you want.

Purchase Delivery And Set Up Of The I8 Mattress

The first thing I did was go into our local Sleep Number store. I have not been in there in years and the people working in our Mobile, Al store were very friendly and knowledgeable. They explained what made the i8 special and tried to find my number. Keep in mind when you go into a store you are likely not tired and testing out the mattress is very limited. In the store I was most comfortable at setting 25, however, at home, my setting is actually between a 65-75.
