If youre considering a weight-loss pill to assist you in your natural weight loss journey, you should first know how to make an effort worthwhile! Any weight loss drug that claims to be a fat burner or appetite suppressant works only when taken, along with a well-balanced, healthy diet and proper exercise.
Weight loss is an equation of calories in and out. Weight-loss pills cannot be nearly as effective if they are not used to complement regular dieting and exercise. Weight-loss drugs just help you to maintain a caloric deficit.
Weight-loss pills can help you in many different ways. They may help you feel full, work on your stored fat, allowing you to eat less and consume fewer calories. Other diet pills help in boosting metabolism .
The weight-loss supplement industry is growing fast. In 2020, it was a $24 billion industry but was projected to be worth over $33 billion annually in the coming years.
Can You Increase The Number Of Calories You Burn During Sleep
To increase the number of calories you burn during sleep, you would need to increase your basal metabolic rate. The easiest way to do this is by eating right, getting enough exercise, and sleeping well.
Since we burn more calories when awake, its not surprising that skipping one night of sleep causes us to temporarily burn more calories. However, in the long term, substantial research has shown that a chronic lack of sleep is linked to obesity.
A lack of sleep causes surges in hormone that make you crave high-calorie foods. Sleep loss also raises cortisol levels, which affects your bodys ability to regulate glucose and may contribute to weight gain, insulin resistance, and even type 2 diabetes. And while the extra time awake may result in more calories being burned, restricting calories while sleep-deprived leads to the body burning lean mass instead of fat.
Given that the brain burns more calories during REM sleep, sleep interruptions that affect the time spent in this stage can have an impact on the calories you burn. Adopting proper sleep hygiene habits and creating a cool, dark, quiet bedroom environment can encourage your body to cycle naturally through the sleep stages and optimize your metabolism while sleeping.
What Is A Good Sleep Routine
A good sleep routine is built of multiple manageable aspects to bedtime. You need to set aside, preferably, 8 hours for sleep. You can choose 7 hours but less will be under the recommended amount of sleep for an adult.
Additionally, you want to have a set bed time and time to wake up and have them be the same each day, this is how you build your routine and you will become a machine at following this schedule if you do it long enough.

To lose weight overnight, all blue light devices laptop, tablet and/or smartphone need to go. Studies have shown that nighttime exposure to the blue light they all emit disrupts the production of the melatonin the body needs to promote sleep. In addition, a study conducted by researchers at Northwestern University reported that blue light exposure at night increases hunger and insulin resistance, which can, of course, lead to weight gain and not just the disruption of the body’s fat-burning power.

Tips To Promote Fat Loss
When combined with a healthy, balanced diet filled with nutrient-dense foods, physical activity is probably the best thing you can do to get your heart rate up and increase your oxygen intake, which can help promote fat loss. Keep in mind that you’ll still need to burn more calories than you’re consuming to create a calorie deficit in order to lose weight.
Exercise increases your metabolism or the rate your body uses energy. Meerman suggests that you can use up more stored fat by performing physical activities that double your metabolic ratefor example, swapping out one hour of rest with exercises like brisk walking or light jogging.
The American College of Sports Medicine and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week, plus at least two days of strength training to promote both weight loss and weight management.
Other basic suggestions to increase your metabolic rate and reduce fat from your body include:
- Engage in active playtime with your kids.
- Park your car further away and walk more.
- Stand at your computer vs. sitting.
- Stay active over the weekend and avoid being a couch potato.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
- Take short walks and stretch during your breaks at work.
- Get the family involved in a kickball game or go on a family hike
- Get a good night’s sleep.
Make Your Room As Dark As Possible
Exposure to light before bedtime has serious implications for your health. Sleeping in total darkness releases the hormone melatonin, which helps regulate sleep, blood pressure, body temperature, and cortisol levels. A 10-year study found that women who were excessively exposed to light at bedtime were 22 percent more likely to develop breast cancer, while another study linked bedtime light exposure to higher rates of depression .
Melatonin also assists in the production of brown fat which is key in metabolizing calories, so shut off your electronics an hour before bed and make your room as dark as possible while you sleep.

Which Sleeping Position Burns The Most Calories
Well if sleeping is so impressive at burning off some water weight then which position would be the most beneficial? There is a great amount of anecdotal data online for why one position would help more than another. Which sleeping position burns the most calories?
The common anecdotal responses online were that they did best at dropping pounds when side or back sleeping. This would maximize breathing out during the night to help you expel water and allow for more continual rhythmic breathing.
Looking at the other information the worst would probably have to be stomach sleepers. This would be due to less outward breathing as many will face into a pillow, bed, or sheet.

Lack Of Sleep Can Make Dieters Lose Muscle Instead Of Fat
People who are on a low-calorie diet will lose the same amount of weight whether they sleep an average of 8.5 hours or 5.5 hours each night. However, those on 8.5 hours will lose much more fat, while those on 5.5 hours lose mainly muscle, instead of fat, according to an article published in the peer-reviewed journal Annals of Internal Medicine. The researchers, from the University of Chicago stress that adequate sleep is a key contributor to managing body weight.
The investigators advise those planning to start a weight-loss program to try to make sure they know they are going to get enough sleep each night.
Ten overweight males and females lived in a sleep research center for two separate periods, lasting two weeks each. During each period they were on identical low calorie diets. However, during the first 2 week period they had 8.5 hours sleep each night, while in the second period they slept just 5.5 hours each night.
Although sleep duration was found not to affect the total amount of weight loss they all lost an average of nearly 7 pounds the dieters lost mainly muscle rather than fat during their sleep-deprived two-week session.
The researchers found that:
- While on 8.5 hours sleep each night over 50% of the participants weight loss consisted of fat
- While on 5.5 hours sleep each night, approximately 25% of the participants weight loss consisted of fat in other words, they lost 55% less fat than when they were sleeping 8.5 hours
The authors concluded:

Feel a stretch in the backs of the legs , and breathe in for five slow deep breaths and out for five. Feel a melting towards towards the legs and flex the feet. Perform this before bed to help calm down the nervous system and promote better quality sleep.

How Much Weight Do You Lose Overnight On Average
Each night you rested you burn off some of your body in the process of keeping warm and maintaining all the needed systems which consistently breathing.
How much weight do you lose overnight on average? The average weight lost over a night of sleep comes in at 1-3 pounds as you sweat and breath consistently. This weight comes from carbon, water vapor, and sweat from balancing body temperature.
The only way to viably increase this would be to build up your RMR, or resting metabolic rate, to help your bodies engine run more effectively and burn off additional calories.
As a reminder since the majority of your weight loss will be water weight you will put it back on fast once you begin drinking water.
Myth Of The Fat Burning Zone
Exercising at lower intensities will use more fat for energy. This basic premise is what started the theory of the fat burning zone, which is the idea that working in a certain heart rate zone will allow your body to burn more fat.
Over the years, this theory has become so ingrained in our exercise experience that we see it touted in books, charts, websites, magazines, and even on cardio machines at the gym. The trouble is that it’s misleading.
Working at lower intensities isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it won’t burn more fat off your body unless you’re burning more calories than you’re eating. One way to increase your calorie burn is to exercise at higher intensities.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should avoid low-intensity exercise if you want to burn more fat. There are some specific things you can do to burn more fat and it all starts with how and how much you exercise.

How Many Calories Do You Burn In Your Sleep
Given that people weigh different amounts and need different amounts of sleep, it’s hard to give a concrete number of calories the average person burns in their sleep.
This Fit Day article provides a formula to help you estimate roughly how many calories you burn while you’re asleep. According to the article, you can work out your calorie expenditure by multiplying 0.42 calories the average amount of calories a person burns for every pound they weigh in one hour of sleep by your weight in pounds and the hours that you sleep.
As an example, the article calculates that someone weighing 150 pounds who sleeps for eight hours would burn approximately 63 calories an hour, totaling 504 calories during their sleep.
It’s worth noting, though, that this calculation doesn’t take into account that the most calorie-burning happens in the REM stage of sleep, nor any habits that can impact your sleep, like eating late at night.
Sleep Helps Signal Satiety
Hunger hormones affect your appetitethey help regulate when you feel full or satisfied.
For example, just a few nights without sleep can drop the level of leptinthe hormone responsible for signaling satiety.
Study participants who slept 5 hours had 15.5 percent lower leptin than those individuals who slept for 8 hours.
Insufficient sleep can make it more difficult for you to sense when youre fullcausing you to consume more calories than you need.

Slimming Down ‘tongue Fat’ Might Help Ease Sleep Apnea
FRIDAY, Jan. 10, 2020 — People with sleep apnea are often told to lose weight to ease their symptoms. Now a new study suggests that shedding fat in a particular trouble spot may be key: the tongue.
If you didn’t know the tongue harbors body fat, you’re probably not alone.
“Most people aren’t thinking about tongue fat,” said senior researcher Dr. Richard Schwab, chief of sleep medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
When it comes to sleep apnea, however, the anatomy of the tongue may be critical.
Obstructive sleep apnea is a disorder in which the muscles of the throat fail to keep the airways open during sleep. That results in repeated interruptions in breathing — along with symptoms such as loud snoring and daytime grogginess due to poor sleep.
OSA is common — affecting an estimated 25 million Americans, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. While it can affect people at any weight, obesity raises the risk.
Not everyone who is obese develops OSA, though. And in a 2014 study, Schwab’s team found that when you compare obese individuals with and without sleep apnea, those with the disorder typically have larger tongues with more fat tissue.
That brought up the question of whether losing tongue fat improves sleep apnea.
Weight loss is known to help ease the condition, Schwab said — but the precise pathways are not completely clear.
“It’s more like a steak that’s marbled,” he explained.
