Add Foam Comfort Layers
With the base, mattress, and air chamber parts of the Sleep Number bed setup completed, you can now place the foam layers into the mattress casing. Like the base pad, make sure the layers are settled evenly, with the smooth side facing down and the textured side facing up. If your Sleep Number bed has a dual-layer design, you can place either comfort layer on top, depending on your preference. Place the duvet or mattress cover or pillow top over the inflated air chambers, lining up the zippers in the process. Then, add the border wrap on top. Zip the two pieces shut by connecting the zippers that are closest to the floor.
TIP: Before placing the comfort layer or pad in the duvet or mattress cover, open it and let it expand for 20 minutes.
Trial Period And Returns
Sleep Number gives you 100 nights to test drive their beds. There are a lot of moving parts built into a Sleep Number bed. We would recommend you take 30 nights of sleeping before deciding whether to keep any mattress. We would recommend taking at least that amount of time for the Sleep Number. You may need some time to figure out which number/firmness at which you sleep most comfortably.
If you decide the mattress, or any of the individual layers, doesnt work for you, just initiate a return within 100 days. Sleep Number has to authorize it before you can expect a return. Once you initiate a return, you have 30 days to get it back to Sleep Number. You will pay to return your mattress. After all of that, and after your returns have arrived at Sleep Number, youll have to wait 21 days for your refund.
But you can exchange your mattress for an upgrade or downgrade. Youll have to pay the difference for the upgrade. Youll get a refund of some portion of the difference if you choose a lower-priced model.

Dishonest And Poorly Managed Company
Our last Sleep Number bed was rather uncomfortable. We added a piece of memory foam to make it better. Reluctantly, we bought a new Sleep Number bed, with memory foam, to replace it. We ordered it 3 months ago. Today was our scheduled delivery date. We were notified that the delivery is now delayed for another 30 days, due to staffing shortages. We planned our schedules around this and it cant be delivered for another 30 days, they couldnt tell us this until the day of delivery? They were happy to take our money, in full, three months ago! Obviously our bed has not been manufactured or is still in China due to their lockdowns, but zero honesty or transparency from Sleep Number. When I called and gave my order number, I was placed on a indefinite hold. Poorly run and managed. Dont trust them.
