Sleep Number 360 I8 Smart Bed With Flexfit 2

How To Choose The Best Smart Bed For Your Sleep

How To Move A Sleep Number® FlexFit Base

Tech is a key aspect of smart mattresses and smart beds, and most work with a companion app, giving you access to greater controls and sleep tracking data. Its easy to fall down the rabbit hole of endless smarts with these beds, so wed encourage you to think about what you actually want before you start shopping.

For example, if overheating in bed is your biggest sleep killer, then a smart bed that offers dual-sided cooling should be top of your list. You may also like to check out our best cooling mattress guide – they arent smart, but they are powerful allies in the fight against hot sleeping.

Dealing with back, neck and joint pain? Then the best smart mattress for you is one that offers tens of hundreds of different firmness levels that you can customize to your body weight via app or remote control. Smart air mattresses are normally top of the tree here, but wed also recommend looking at a smart bed or bed base with adjustable positioning. The most well-known position for pressure relief is Zero Gravity, as this simulates a feeling of weightlessness. Integrated massage will also ease any pain, so look for either two or four-zone massage too.

The Performance Series Contain The Following Sleep Number Technology:

  • Dual Adjustability, meaning you can adjust your SleepNumber® setting on each side of the mattress if you sleep with a partner
  • Responsive Air technology, which automatically and effortlessly adjusts comfort to each of you as you sleep
  • SleepIQ® technology, which tracks how youre sleeping, so you know how your day affects your night and pairs to a smartphone app
  • Enhanced pressure relief with exclusive pressure-relieving comfort layers

Modular & Adjustable Bases

Since Sleep Number is all about individualized comfort, it is not surprising that they also make different types of bases for the mattress.

Sleep Number makes one modular base and three different adjustable bases for their mattresses: FlexFit 1, FlexFit 2 and FlexFit 3.

Note: A Sleep Numbers modular or adjustable base is not the only base that works with a Sleep Number mattress. All one needs to have is a flat and sturdy surface for the mattress or the individual may potentially void his or her warranty.

The Best Smart Beds And Smart Mattresses In 202: Better Sleep Is Here

Smart beds and smart mattresses are designed with the latest technology to track your sleep, regulate temperature, and adjust the beds firmness, cooling and heating to suit your individual sleep comfort needs. So if you want the best mattress for helping you to understand whats going on with your shut-eye and how to sleep deeper, the best smart beds and smart mattresses are ideal.

For the most part, smart beds and smart mattresses are interchangeable terms, with manufacturers using both to describe what is essentially the same product. That is, a mattress with a variety of smart functions, such as sleep tracking, dual-sided heating and cooling, adjustable firmness levels and integrated massage functions. Well, that sums up the best smart beds anyway, but some smart mattresses are simpler in their design.

Most smart beds are controlled by air or water pumped in or out of the bed for custom firmness. Smart mattresses can also be adjusted so that you can sit up comfortably in bed, or have your head raised slightly to help with issues like snoring, acid reflux or back pain. The best smart beds also offer a zero gravity preset , plus massage functions to relax your body.

Sleep Number 360 I8 Smart Bed Mattress Construction

The I8 is one of five mattresses in Sleep Numbers Smart Bed Series, which also includes the P5, P6, I7, and I10 beds. The I in I8 stands for innovation pointing to the temperature-balancing technology included in most beds in the series.

As for how theyre different, the I10 comes with a thicker layer of comfort foam, making it softer than the I7 and I8 models. As for the P series , those bed do not come with the temperature regulation built in. They are also a bit smallermaking the P5 and P6 models relatively cheaper.

Heres the exact breakdown of a Sleep Number 360® I8:

The mattress: The 360® I8 mattress has a 12 profile, which is measured from the base of the mattress to its highest loft.

The material: The mattress itself is made from a blend of polyester/polypropylene fabrics, which is known for being both soft and breathable.

Above the airbed: The top of the 360® I8 mattress is a 6 foam comfort layer made up of two different types of foam to promote contouring and support, while offering pressure relief. It also has cooling material in the surface that actually grabs heat and transfers it to the foam so the surface of the mattress stays cool to the touch.

Sizes: The 360® I8 mattress comes in five sizes, ranging from Twin Long to California King. Continue reading to see all of the sizes and how much they cost!

Delivery Warranty And Returns

The Value Bed line ships free via UPS. Other lines can be delivered in-person for $200. You can pick a day and time window based on availability, and, if all works well, Sleep Numbers Comfort Service Home Delivery service team stops by with your mattress, configures the air pumps and app, and shows you how everything works. However, the delivery team missed my window twice because of New York City traffic . I received my bed on the third try, only to find out that I had been given a one-chamber instead of a two-chamber mattress, as requested. For my re-order, with the help of the Sleep Number public relations team, I was able to confirm a morning delivery and received the correct mattress without a hitch. To be fair, despite my experience, customer service wasnt a big pain point among the user reviews we analyzed.

Theres a 100-night free trial for all new Sleep Number mattresses, but you need to sleep on one for 30 nights before filing for a return. Plus, if you decide to return the mattress, theres at least a $200 fee to cover transportation costs. If you ordered an adjustable base with your mattress, that base cannot be returned.

Purchase Delivery And Set Up Of The I8 Mattress

The first thing I did was go into our local Sleep Number store. I have not been in there in years and the people working in our Mobile, Al store were very friendly and knowledgeable. They explained what made the i8 special and tried to find my number. Keep in mind when you go into a store you are likely not tired and testing out the mattress is very limited. In the store I was most comfortable at setting 25, however, at home, my setting is actually between a 65-75.

Regardless of the collection or model, all Sleep Number 360 SmartBeds share certain materials, components, and features. All eight mattresses have Dual Adjustability technology, which simply means that if two people are sharing the mattress, each person can adjust the comfort on their side to their ideal firmness setting, otherwise known as their Sleep Number.

They also all have Responsive Air technology. This feature means that sensors inside the air mattress automatically monitor air pressure throughout the night. The bed will automatically add or release air to ensure you stay at your Sleep Number setting throughout the night. This feature can be turned off if the beds automatic adjustments bother or wake you in the middle of the night. Sleep Number C4 Mattress Feel

Before we break down the feel of the c4, lets decode what Sleep Numbers model naming is all about. The C is c4 stands for Classic, given its a basic and standard model. The number indicates firmness level model numbers range from 2-10, and the higher the number, the softer your number will be. This is because the higher-number models will come with thicker comfort layers that compliment the air chamber itself.

The c4 mattress is definitely a firm mattress. Its not as firm as the c2., given the 1.5 inches of comfort layer, along with the small layer of filling sewn into the mattress top, gives it a little oomf. Overall, the c4 seems to be a good option for side sleepers who enjoy a dash of cushion and plush.

A handful of customers spoke about the c4 providing good hip and back support, but they wished the comfort layer was a little thicker. So while this bed isnt the firmest Sleep Number option, it definitely is still really hard and should be for people who know they enjoy extra-firm mattresses. Of course, you can always adjust your sleep number to soften the bed, but you wont be feeling a lot of plump cushion from the relatively thin comfort layer.

A Smarter Nights Sleep

The Sleep Number 360 i8 Smart Bed keeps your body cool thanks to its temperature-balancing sleep surface, while the FlexFit 3 base warms your feet with a built-in heater. Its excellent SleepIQ companion app allows for truly customizable comfort, letting you adjust the firmness and the position of the mattress to suit your preferences. It tracks your sleep health and biometrics, and offers useful tips to help improve your shut eye. Priced at $6,198 for the mattress and base configuration we tested, it will put a dent in your bank account, but a good nights rest is crucial for health, and the Sleep Number i8 makes every night a dream, earning it our Editors Choice award.

If a Sleep Number is out of your budget, however, the Eight Sleep Pod Pro Mattress looks to be a promising alternative. It isnt adjustable like a Sleep Number, but it tracks similar sleep and health metrics, supports dual-zone heating and cooling, and can vibrate to wake you up without disturbing your partner. We havent tested it yet, but an older Eght Sleep model scored well, and at half the price of the Sleep Number, its worth a look.

Do I Even Need A Base

Sleep Number i8 360 Smart Bed Innovation Series Review $100 off coupon code 1014791890

The short answer is probably. Sleep Number claims that their mattresses are designed to work on a firm, completely solid base to provide proper support. However, that doesnt mean it needs to be a Sleep Number base.

If youre not buying a base from Sleep Number, make sure you own one that has a firm and non-spring foundationthink platform bed or bunkie board. The bases they do not recommend include a bed frame with slats or a traditional box spring base since these dont provide enough support and youre at risk for damaging the base.

All in all, its important you have a strong and durable base to get the best benefits out of your Sleep Number mattress. Whether thats a foot-warming, adjustable Sleep Number base, or a more generic and basic one, is completely up to you.

Know Your Sleep Position

Sleep positions play a huge role in picking out the ideal mattress for you, especially for adjustable mattress bases. Side sleepers may need a different mattress than someone who sleeps on their back. Also, you should consider how often you use the adjustable part of your adjustable bed so you know if the materials will take more wear and tear over time. Adjustable bases tend to lower the life span of lower quality mattresses. Adjustable bases will stretch and compress the mattresses unlike a normal bed frame.

Side sleepers generally like a softer mattress, whereas stomach and back sleepers tend to like one thatâs a little more firm. Also note, if you have issues like acid reflux, adjustable beds bases can help prop you up to relief this, but only if youâre a back sleeper. Adjustable beds can be used to ease your body while youâre digesting and trying to get ready for bed if you rest on your back and use the bed to support your weight.

Overall, youâre looking for comfort and support, and your sleeping position determines if the best memory foam, hybrid, or latex mattress is the right choice.
